Even on a dreary week in March, Winnipeg Centre is still packed with action! I was so happy to connect with constituents in Weston, sharing coffee with parents at Weston School and visiting Blake Gardens Resource Centre during their community lunch. I was honoured to meet with Met Exchange School teachers Jonathan McPhail and Kathryn Laframboise to celebrate their tremendous contributions to our community and achievements as recipients of the 2025 Governor General's History Award for Excellence in Teaching for their work on Black history in downtown Winnipeg. Congratulations to Jon, Kathryn and their wonderful students! Thank you to the Faculty of Architecture at UManitoba for having me lecture on Bill C-5 and its unprecedented attacks Indigenous constitutional rights. Despite C-5 being passed into law, we must continue to talk about its violation of the democratic process, Indigenous constitutional rights, critical environmental protections, and workers' health and safety. With everything that is going on in the world, it was so meaningful to connect with constituents and supporters from across Winnipeg last week🧡

You can implement a referendum on constitutionally protected First Nations Treaties (Sec. 35). Danielle Smith is wasting time on her referendum, she should be focused on diversifying Alberta’s economy and creating new jobs for Albertans. #alberta #forevercanada #independence
The Breakdown@TheBreakdownAB

Smith pulled the rug out from both Mickey Amery and the separatists yesterday! Despite Amery saying no unconstitutional or treaty violating question will be allowed, Smith said it will be allowed & it’s up to her to decide how to implement the results. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

I highly doubt the NDP would go from 6 seats to 24, they are broke, have a questionable leader coming in. They would not take Nunavut or Desnethe-Churchill Aski (MB) this is a flawed poll with not enough sample in these large remote ridings/regions. With the amount of resources the Liberal government is pumping into the North and Artic, this projection seems very flawed. #cdnpoli #projections #liberal #ndp

As we mentioned in previous tweets, constituents come first in Nunavut. Former CPC Inuk MP and Minister Leona Aglukkaq spoke to the dynamics of @LoriIdlout floor crossing and what it means to the people of Nunavut: "A lot of people in the North vote for who they know, for the individual, more so than the party," said Leona Aglukkaq” "I'm not entirely surprised about (Idlout crossing). The NDP has seven members, it's got no party status and it's not very effective to influence anything for the North." Aglukkaq said it will be up to Nunavut voters to decide whether crossing to the Liberals was a good move. "Being in the NDP, (in) my view, it was not going to do anything for the North," Aglukkaq said, adding she wished Idlout the best. #loriidlout #nunavut #indigpoli #nupoli #cdnpoli

Shame on the NDP and leader #dondavies her people and constituents come first. That’s how it’s always been for Nunavut representation. Glad @LoriIdlout got a warm reception from the #LPC Caucus. #loriidlout #nunavut #constiuency #indigpoli #inuit

Tom Mulcair on Lori Idlout: "It's one of the clearest examples of somebody who's saying, 'Okay, I come from a part of Canada that has serious needs. I'm sitting with the rump of the NDP, we're down to seven seats.' Now they're down to six with her departure, and they're going to be down to five."

Wow! A question from the Western Standard backfired yesterday when they tried to ask Chiefs if the Chiefs had engaged with separatists to hear their concerns… And ended with UCP MLA Scott Cyr being named directly as an alleged separatist! #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli
