Press Statement for immediate release -------------------------- Fragmentation of Akali Politics Weakening Sikh Voice and Ignoring Long-Pending Issues Since 1966-Satnam Singh Chahal April 18n2026-The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahalexpresses deep concern over the continued fragmentation of Akali Dal factions in Punjab, each claiming to be the sole representative of the Sikh community while failing to address the real and long-standing issues affecting Sikhs. Over the decades, multiple factions including Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit), and Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) have emerged with different agendas and leadership structures. However, instead of strengthening Sikh political influence, this division has diluted the collective voice of the community. NAPA emphasizes that Sikhs worldwide have consistently expected their political leadership to resolve critical and pending issues arising from the Punjab Reorganisation Act of 1966. These include the unresolved status of Chandigarh, river water disputes, territorial claims, and the broader question of state autonomy. Unfortunately, these issues remain unaddressed even after nearly six decades. Rather than presenting a united front, Akali factions have remained engaged in internal conflicts and symbolic politics, leaving core Sikh concerns sidelined. This has resulted in frustration among Sikhs both in Punjab and across the global diaspora, who feel increasingly disconnected from their political leadership. NAPA calls upon all Akali factions to rise above divisions and work collectively toward resolving these historic issues. The Sikh community deserves leadership that prioritizes unity, accountability, and tangible progress over political rivalry. Failure to do so will continue to weaken Sikh political, social, and religious strength, ultimately benefiting those who seek to divide rather than empower the community. @rmbtv @AkharOfficial @Babushahikhabar @divya5521 @ani @uninews @ians @PrimeAsiaTV @MakkarSimranjot @talkwithrattan @lokawaztv @akharofficia @ramzatv8956 @ptcnews @bbcpunjabi @1158APFront5aab @Gurpreet0531 @thetribunechd @htTweets @TheHindu @IndianExpress @manaman_chhina @ani @uninews @ians_india @inderpreet @jagbani @punjabkesari

To Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji Government of India April 16, 2026 Subject: Urgent Concern Regarding Alleged Denial of Sikh Religious Rights to a School Student Respected Prime Minister Ji, On behalf of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), we are writing to bring to your urgent attention a deeply concerning incident reported from an educational institution, where a Sikh schoolgirl was allegedly prevented from covering her head and wearing keshki/kiran, which are recognised and compulsory articles of faith in Sikhism. If these reports are accurate, the incident raises serious concerns regarding the protection of religious freedom, individual dignity, and the constitutional rights guaranteed to every citizen of India. The right to practice and express one’s faith is a foundational principle of the Indian Constitution and must be equally protected in all institutions, including private educational establishments. For the Sikh community, religious articles of faith are not optional cultural symbols but sacred and inseparable elements of identity and spiritual discipline. Any restriction imposed on a student in this regard not only affects personal faith but also risks creating an environment of exclusion and discrimination within educational spaces. We respectfully urge your good office to ensure that this matter is reviewed with seriousness and that appropriate directions are issued to concerned authorities to safeguard the rights of Sikh students and all religious minorities. It is also important that clear and uniform guidelines are established so that no student in India is ever compelled to choose between education and faith. India has long been recognized as a pluralistic democracy where diversity of faith is a strength. Preserving this spirit requires continuous vigilance to ensure that institutional practices do not unintentionally undermine constitutional protections. We trust that your leadership will address this concern with the urgency and sensitivity it deserves. Yours respectfully, Satnam Singh Chahal Executive Director North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) thenapa.com Email: napausa2010@gmail.com USA: +1 408-221-5732 India: +91 98724-86727 @rmbtv @AkharOfficial @Babushahikhabar @divya5521 @ani @uninews @ians @PrimeAsiaTV @MakkarSimranjot @talkwithrattan @lokawaztv @akharofficia @ramzatv8956 @ptcnews @bbcpunjabi @1158APFront5aab @Gurpreet0531 @thetribunechd @htTweets @TheHindu @IndianExpress @manaman_chhina @ani @uninews @ians @jagbani @punjabkesari

#JusticeForSacrilege
