INIP is part of a group of programs called Community Powered Infrastructure. Along with Tactical Urbanism and Art in the Right-of Way, these programs allow community-based organizations access to a cost-share program for infrastructure projects in their neighborhoods.

Students and neighbors near The Match High School now have access to improved sidewalks and two new ADA ramps through the Indianapolis Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership (INIP).

Our contractors are back at work on a strip-patching job on the west side. Here they have just stripped down the pavement on Valley Mills Avenue. Then they will add a layer of asphalt to replace the worn concrete. The road will be re-striped once the asphalt dries.

Indy DPW contractors are on the west side kicking off a strip-patching project on West Hanna Avenue from Kollman Road to Kentucky Avenue. Both lanes are being resurfaced and there are lane restrictions. This is a heavily traveled road, please drive carefully around our workers.

Citizens Energy Group is currently working in the area ahead of our project. Construction is expected to wrap up by the end of 2027.

This includes the addition of a multi-use path, improved sidewalks and ADA ramps, stormwater management, and lighting, the placement of nearly 70 new trees, and intersection re-alignment of 10th & Rural.

In early September, work is scheduled to begin on the $19.2 million Near Eastside Streetscape project, which will improve intersection safety on 10th Street from Tecumseh Street to Rural Street and along Rural Street from 10th Street to St. Clair Street.

There is high confidence in rain amounts of at least an inch between Thursday and Sunday with the potential for amounts of 3+ inches. Best chances will be across southern Indiana with the heaviest rain currently forecast to fall Thursday night. #INwx

Once the structure reopens, it will be safer for those travelling over and under the bridge. The closure is anticipated to last at least five weeks, weather permitting.

We looked at ways to keep the bridge open during construction, but we have determined with our contractor that a full bridge closure is the safest option for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

On Monday, contractors for Indy DPW closed the Emerson Way bridge over Fall Creek for repairs. A recent check of the bridge identified several areas of need, including fixing the deck and sidewalks, which will necessitate also closing the Fall Creek Trail under the bridge.

Phase 2 of the project will also expand the connectivity of the new Interurban Trail to Indy’s south side from Martin Street to Hanna Avenue. The new Interurban Trail will eventually reach the county line - connecting downtown Indy to the far south side.

Phase 2 of the Madison Avenue Road Diet is officially underway! As part of Vision Zero and complete streets policies, Indy DPW will introduce traffic calming elements that will equip Madison Avenue with current and future traffic volume needs.
