Comfortable lie in Marion County: Juvenile offenders are just misunderstood victims. Hard truth: The ABSOLUTE WORST thing you can do for juvenile offenders is convince them they are the victims and their actions don't have consequences. Our pity doesn't benefit young offenders. Phillip Foust, a Republican candidate for Marion County prosecutor, spoke ahead of tonight’s City-County Council meeting downtown about the push for tougher laws involving teenagers and crime. He described what’s happening in Indianapolis as a crisis involving teen crime.

Indy's juvenile crime today = the best predictor of overall crime tomorrow. Ignoring juvenile crime now means abandoning our city's future.

With at least 9 shot and 3 stabbed this weekend in Marion County, Ryan Mears chooses to carry water for a defense cause based on cases in St. Joseph County. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office is not the public defender's office for ANOTHER county. I will refocus the prosecutor's office on enforcing the law, seeking justice for victims, and protecting the public--not chasing political trends pushed by the Exoneration Justice Clinic, the Innocence Project, and Indiana Public Defenders Council. If Ryan Mears has concerns about the use of informants here, he is the one responsible for how his deputies use such evidence. Is he saying HIS OFFICE isn't rigorously evaluating evidence? Prosecutors don't ignore evidence: they assess credibility and seek corroboration before presenting it to a jury or judge. It'd be great if every case had nuns for witnesses, but the reality is that criminals often talk to other criminals. wishtv.com/news/prosecuto…
