This week, the mandate began a series of conversations with different regional and thematic groups. Participants included Indigenous Peoples and children themselves, as well as organizations working with LGBTIQ+ communities, indigenous peoples' rights, environmental rights, children's rights, and other thematic areas. Participating organizations spoke about the challenges they face on the ground, and we discussed what concrete actions could genuinely support defenders and regional efforts. Listening to people working in complex and high-risk environments is central to my work as Special Rapporteur. These conversations will shape the work of the mandate in the months ahead.
