🌍 July 2025 Highlights from @InfoAPN , the African Philanthropy Network (APN). This month’s newsletter shines a light on powerful collaborative efforts shaping the future of African philanthropy and community-driven development across the continent. Key highlights include: • Research & Learning: Insights from the 9th East Africa Philanthropy Conference on reimagining financing and strengthening community-led development. • Tanzania CSOs Forum: Calls for enabling policies that strengthen domestic resource mobilisation. • 2025 Ghana Civil Society Forum: Collective reflection on financing development and revitalizing civic action. • Africa Day 2025: A Pan-African message of justice, solidarity, and sustainability. • Building Resilient Institutions: A call to shift power, trust, and ownership to local actors. • Democratization Towards 2030: Elevating youth and women as leaders and decision-makers. • Upcoming Events: Masterclasses, conferences, and regional philanthropy engagements. ✨ We are grateful that our Position Paper on the Status of Locally Led Development in Uganda was featured in this edition. The position paper was developed under the Local Leadership Lab (LLL), an experimental initiative of the @CIVICUSalliance , delivered in partnership with @InfoAPN , as the Regional Convening Partner for Southeast Africa. The newsletter highlights the study’s findings, showing that local actors in Uganda continue to be treated as subcontractors rather than co-creators, and calls for transformative shifts including pooled funding, simplified reporting, and long-term core support for sustainability. It also recognizes @NaomiAyot , our Executive Director, for voicing these concerns and advocating for development rooted in the agency and lived experiences of local and national actors. TrustAfrica Joins Global Conversations at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg TrustAfrica is proud to announce its participation in the historic G20 Summit taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 22–23, 2025. This landmark event marks the first time the G20 Leaders’ Summit will be hosted on African soil, under the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.” The summit will bring together world leaders, civil society, and global movements to address pressing issues such as climate finance, global economic reforms, and inclusive governance. For TrustAfrica, this is a pivotal moment to amplify African voices and advocate for a fairer global order. Additionally, TrustAfrica will engage in the T20 summit 11-12 November 2025, G20 Social Summit (November 18–20) and the We, the 99% People’s Summit (November 18–22) at Constitution Hill. These platforms will unite civil society organizations and social movements to demand global economic justice, climate action, and inclusive development. TrustAfrica will curate spaces for networking, solidarity-building, and cultural expression, reinforcing its commitment to intersectional collaboration and movement building. Through these engagements, TrustAfrica aims to strengthen global solidarity, advocate for taxing the 1%, and amplify the voices of the Global South in shaping a new economic future. Our participation underscores our mission to promote social justice, democratic governance, and equitable development across Africa and beyond. Together, we stand for a world where solidarity, equality, and sustainability are not just aspirations but realities.

🌍 Community Co-Creation Takes Root in Bwesumbu, Kasese District. Today, we’re in Bwesumbu Sub-county, Kasangali and Kaswa Parishes in Kasese District, joining hands with our co-convener, @GlpcUg (Great Lakes Peace Center), for another inspiring community co-creation session under the Local Leadership Labs (LLL) initiative. This gathering brings together local leaders, youth, and community members to reflect on the everyday challenges they face and to design locally grounded solutions that truly fit their context. The discussions are expected to spark fresh ideas around community wellbeing, service delivery, and collective action for change. With continued support from the @CIVICUSalliance , this initiative by @CapaidsUganda continues to open up inclusive spaces where communities lead the dialogue, shape priorities, and drive the change they want to see. It’s another day of listening, learning, unlearning, and co-creating, right where real development begins: in the hands of the community. #LocalLeadershipLabs #LocallyLedDevelopment #CAPAIDSUganda #CommunityCoCreation #GreatLakesPeaceCenter #KaseseDistrict #WesternUganda #CommunityVoices #BuildingLocalPower #InclusiveDevelopment

📍Today marks the official start of our month-long community ideation exercise under the Local Leadership Labs (LLL). Throughout November, 14 co-conveners across different communities from the seven regions of Uganda will be engaging local communities in problem exploration and collective solution-building. As @CapaidsUganda , with support from @CIVICUSalliance , we are excited to open spaces where communities can sit together, reflect on the challenges affecting their wellbeing, and co-create practical solutions for a better future. We look forward to a powerful month of learning, dialogue, and strengthening locally led development in Uganda. #localleadershiplabs #locallyleddevelopment #localization #cocreation
