Most Americans who call themselves Irish aren’t talking about the same thing as the famine Irish of Boston and New York. A huge number are really Scots-Irish — English and Scottish border stock, Protestant frontier people whose ancestors came out of the borderlands, were planted in Ulster, then pushed into Appalachia, Tennessee, Kentucky and the South. Not Dublin. Not Cork. Not the tenements. A harder, older story of border clans, rifles, honour, feuds, distrust of authority and life on the edge of empire. The green beer version of Irish-American identity hides a lot. For millions, the real roots are English, Scottish, Ulster, frontier, Presbyterian, hill country and rebellion. Different people. Feel bad for Vance. It's too early to litigate the 2028 primary, but half of these people claim to be "Never Vance" because...he married a high-caste Indian woman and used to work for a company that is actually pretty cool when you learn about it. The other half wants to reboot the GOP to it's losing pre-Trump trajectory, and now claims to be "Never Vance" because...Vance said he occasionally finds a comedian funny that millions of Americans watch (and not for his politics, which admittedly suck)? Or because he doesn't virtue signal the exact way they want him to when pressed by a shouting deranged lunatic? Like, come on. Vance is not "establishment" because he doesn't want Iran to have nukes, nor is he "retard right" because he tries to talk young Americans off that very ledge of insanity. Seems like a lot of people who constantly claim to oppose this threat, much like the retard right, don't actually want to seek solutions either!
