Today we honored the Rescuers of Lithuanian Jews - ordinary people who chose to follow their conscience and brought light in the darkest of times. Their moral courage reminds us that even in the face of unimaginable evil, there are those who risk everything for another human being. And that there is always a choice.

Wydarzenie upamiętniające Litewski Dzień Osób Ratujących Żydów, pod patronatem Premiera i Rektora Uniwersytetu Wileńskiego, odbyło się dziś po raz czwarty. W tym roku miałem okazję nieco przyczynić się do organizowania obchodów, a dziś towarzyszyłem Premier w tym wydarzeniu.

Lietuvos žydų gelbėtojų dienos paminėjimo renginys, kurį globoja Ministrė Pirmininkė ir Vilniaus universiteto rektorius, šiandien įvyko jau ketvirtąjį kartą. Šiemet teko ir man prie šio darbo šiek tiek prisidėti, o šiandien lydėti Premjerę renginio metų.

March 15 is the Day of the Rescuers of Lithuanian Jews. It was not chosen by chance. #OTD, in 1966, Ona Šimaitė, a librarian, was the first Lithuanian to be titled as Righteous Among the Nations. Saving more than 100 lives, she shed light on one of the darkest periods of history.
