@DatSaphNeko @GuardianOfPunda My honest reccomendation would be to get a dedicated kanji textbook, and one step further, a dedicated kanji calligraphy textbook/note. Try a look at a few textbooks from this link google.com/shopping/produ…

@Input91 @GuardianOfPunda Would you have any advice on how to search those parts up? Because I feel like we're being taught random kanji off the bat like 僕、話 、違 、勉強 and I think it'd be confusing on how to find more info about the elements when there's no lead on how to actually find out more

@DatSaphNeko @Input91 To be fair, unless you have a book for Japanese 101 or Basics of Japanese type of shii, or you're taking Japanese 300 (3rd year of Japanese)/advanced Japanese... I doubt it. Maybe I'm wrong, but from the way I'm seeing it, those are the only way. Duolingo is slow and speeds up

@GuardianOfPunda @DatSaphNeko easier in terms of; if u know the meaning of 「木」then u can know that whatever 「柱」is, its either made of wood or pertaining something of wood, so u can say u know half of what it means, once u nail wirting the basics, its a breeze the reading part is the hard part

@GuardianOfPunda @DatSaphNeko so for example, in basic japanese u’ll learn 「木」(wood) and「主」(some sort of authoritative figure), when u start doing intermediate kanji, u’ll see 「柱」(pillar) which is combined pair of 2 kanjis, literal “main/supporting wood”, so tl;dr basics will make the rest “easier”.

@DatSaphNeko oh man this is just the tip of the iceberg, like the first few inches of an iceberg the size of a cargo ship, I’ve been in jp for amost 8yrs and even then I still dont remember all counting derivatives, heck even some of my japanese friends get the counting sytem wrong at times

What I've always thought : One 一 (ichi) Two ニ (ni) Three 三 (san) Japanese language: One thing 一つ (hitotsu) Two things ニつ (futatsu) Three things 三つ (mittsu) why???? 😭
