H-1B visa fraud claims (most relevant for professional use in the US): Indians receive the large majority of H-1B visas (70%+). A former US consular officer in Chennai (who adjudicated 51,000 visa applications, mostly H-1Bs) alleged 80-90% of Indian H-1B cases she saw involved fraudulent documentation, including fake or inflated degrees, transcripts, and work experience. She described it as "industrial-scale" fraud to gain US work authorization. A 2008 USCIS audit found >13% fraud in approved H-1Bs overall. Reports cite high rates of fake credentials in certain professions domestically (e.g., 35-40% of lawyers per one Bar Council claim; ~45% of medical practitioners with no formal training per older Indian Medical Association data). Fake degree rackets have been linked to American immigration.
