I asked Rodriguez about his coach praising his spirit on Friday night: "I think I just go out there and just have fun and play with energy. If someone's down or anything, I try to lighten them up and get them back in the mood again, in game mode." "I just like playing with flair and energy. That's just how I roll. When I'm picking up my teammates and telling them how good they are, it just makes me play better."

#Texas HC Jim Schlossnagle on SS Adrian Rodriguez, who missed time this year with injury. “His energy and his presence on the field, he's the spirit of our team. I’ve said that many times.”

Texas won a series against a top-10 opponent with Carson Tinney going 0/11 and Aiden Robbins having 1 XBH, no homers. Bottom of the order showed up

Texas Baseball's bullpen today: 4 IP 1 H 1 ER Walks were a problem, but this Texas bullpen is one of the best in the nation. Cozart was lights out this series, and Burns and Crossland each had great individual moments.

A lot of people should be eating their words about Troy Tulowitzki as a hitting coach. No one is saying this team is perfect, or that they're the best offense in the SEC, but all four of: Mendoza Rodriguez Becerra Borba Have made tremendous strides these past few weeks.

Adrian Rodriguez confirmed the plan is for him to continue hitting left handed, even against lefties. Has put in a lot of work with hitting coach Troy Tulowitzki, and feels most comfortable swinging from that side. Noted that he's 'getting there' day-by-day, not trying to rush or take too many swings in the batting cage. He still won't say he's back to 100%.

How did Luke Harrison spend his time in the 40+ minutes Texas spent scoring nine runs in the bottom of the third? "I went down to our bullpen and threw some pitches down there. And you know, that moment was something I'll remember for the rest of my life, the way that my teammates just got behind me, got fired up and got ready to go back out there and just really start a new game." There's something about that Texas bullpen energy. He told us that the group didn't talk much to him, but had music playing and got his blood pumping to return to the game for two more scoreless innings.

Want to know #Texas pitching coach Max Weiner's best trait? The ability to keep it lighthearted and fun even in stressful moments for his pitchers. Luke Harrison said Weiner made a Game of Thrones reference to him after the first inning, likening him to Hodor. Hold the line. "It was just a moment to really gather myself and get back to what matters, and that's the next thing. The next pitch," Harrison said. "I think it's huge. And he does a great job of just coaching everybody individually," Harrison added. You know, I'm somebody who's not gonna be smiling as much on the mound and gonna be a little bit more serious. And he knows that, and he knows how to work with Brett, and he knows how to work with Cozart and Dylan and Ruger, like, I think everybody's a little different, and that's what makes us great."

Jim Schlossnagle on freshman OF Maddox Monsour: "We have confidence in Maddox. We have to get Maddox to have more confidence in himself. What Pack has Maddox is learning. Pack is fearless and has great belief in himself. And Maddox actually has that on the bases, and has that on the defense. He's just a little tentative at home plate, and we're just trying to get that out of him. If he strikes out, but make sure you're really aggressive getting your swing off, and he's getting there. He certainly has a lot of value on offense and on the base and on defense, we just got to continue to coach him up as a hitter." He told Monsour before one of his ABs today to get his swing off and be more aggressive. Monsour had his struggles this weekend, but was a vital piece at multiple points of a top-ten win for the Longhorns in his first series as a starter.

#Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle told the media he wasn't concerend about his team stranding 17 on base last night, and that he was confident in the squad heading into Sunday. Today they scored nine runs in the third, all from RISP situations. I asked Schlossnagle about how satisfying it was to see his team go out and perform the way it did today: "Yeah, it's awesome," he said with a pause. "It sure wasn't ugly, could you say it was pretty?" "I get it, it was frustrating, but how do you coach it? You can't. You can't. There's no way to coach it other than continue to remind the players that the pressure is on the pitcher, and if you talk about it too much, then they feel the pressure, when, in two out hitting situations and bases loaded, the pressure is on the pitcher. So you shrink the strike zone, put a good swing on something, and see what happens. And sometimes they fall in, and sometimes they go over the fence, as they did for Mississippi State yesterday and today, we got ours in."

#Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle on Adrian Rodriguez, who has now officially moved over to hitting from the left side of the plate: "I think he is redefining what success is for him this year, right? And success for him is probably going to be hitting from one side of the plate, most likely the rest of the season. And so you got to get over that. That's not the easiest thing to do when you're a career switch hitter since you were a little guy, and then putting together at bats. He's still going to hit his homers, but being able to just play good baseball for the team, not that he's ever been selfish. He's never been selfish, but he's a guy, when healthy, he's going to hit in the mid three hundreds with double digit homers, and that'll happen once he's healthy at Texas, but it may not get there the exact way we would all like it to be this year. And so that doesn't mean he can't be a super productive player for us. He played awesome defense. He put together a big triple and a big bases-loaded single, I think he just has to kind of redefine what his success is going to be this."

Schlossnagle was very complimentary of Presley Courville, who began the nine-run third with a 3-2 walk. Says there's a bit of Ethan Mendoza in him
