@addieplaysgames The replies of "this one time I played with 72 people" is just Headline Bias - they are mentioned because those sessions are rare. And there is a reason they are rare. Long ago I stopped DM'ing for more than 4. It's just not fun. #dnd

#ttrpg DM friends; What's the max number of PCs you'd consider for a campaign? Custom campaign, fully adjustable, but how many is *too* many players? I was originally planning for 5 but I'm wondering if I can pull off 6 without it being chaos.

I can write short stories, poems, and feature scripts but can't figure out how to write a D&D Adventure. I mean, I know 'how' I just don't know 'how' -> the technical side, formating, etc. I'm desperate to learn.

To whatever DM needs to hear this: Your #dnd villain doesn't need to be some deep, traumatized, morally gray, anti-hero that makes the players ask "are we the baddies"? They can just be really, really, really evil. Sometimes it's satisfying to kill hitler.

@newbiedm @Dan_Dillon_1 I always thought it was in there if the NPC is rolling against another NPC. For example, if the NPC is following the party around as an ally. The party might say "Hey, go try to intimidate that guard for us."

@Dan_Dillon_1 It's just that it's in the NPC stat block, you are expected to use it?

How do you as a player handle when an NPC (who has a stat for it) attempts to intimidate you? #dnd

@CBrobarian @Blackmoor_Film When your players encounter one of these creatures, give them clear in-game signs that they are way out of their depth. Maybe they see the creature perform some incredible feat of power from afar. Or maybe something powerful that they fought earlier is running from that creature.

The Fellowship of the Thing - Official Blackmoor
In The Labyrinth was released 40+ years ago. Now someone has had a genius moment and I truly applaud it. A dragon that is actually serpentine - Oh Hell Yes! Nice job Anthony Shostak! The best part of ITL is that the company embraces user innovations and always has. @SJGames

@DavidBarrentine I have a few one-shots on #DMsGuild. My best seller is far more simple than the others. Like uncomfortably simple. It's just an interesting investigation quest with no frills. I think that simplicity is why people like it so much.

@IntrepidDm Quickly ending encounters that aren't as interesting as I thought they would be and moving on. On several occasions I've dragged out an encounter that I thought was awesome because I thought it "needed room to breathe" when in reality it just wasn't that good.

Shitty Character Idea: A Ranger who is just a Boy Scout who is wayyyyy too into it. Has merit badges for things like “tracking” and “monster hunting”. #DnD

#dnd friends. Let's talk about backgrounds. What makes up a "good" background for you? What is useful? What isn't? What do you think about the traits/bonds/ideals/flaws framework? #DungeonMaster friends, what about you?
