Great thread here about the reading gap. A lot of discussions I've been involved with reference 'high school readiness' in terms of prepping for content. Let's be honest, fluency is key. Before we tweak anything, we need to ask: Can they read it with confidence? 🤔📚👇

The reading gap Approx one in four pupils move to secondary school without having met the expected standard in the key stage 2 national reading test. This holds many of them back in secondary school, both in their English lessons and more widely across the curriculum. /1

Day 1 round up of Year 6s residential! We enjoyed our lunch upon arrival then completed archery and rock climbing. We then finished the day with some laser tag in the woods. Bring on day 2!

Residential day 2 round up! We enjoyed another day of activities but including the aqua park which was a firm favourite! We then rounded off the day with some disc golf and then a disco!

Minibeats in provision 🐞🐝 In badgers we have been exploring minibeats and the boys have chosen to draw and label the minibeats they know. They recalled lots of facts about spiders, ladybirds and butterfly’s.
