ISWAP released a statement claiming responsibility for the coordinated attacks that targeted Nigerian army camps and positions in Buratai, Shiwari (Mile 4 near Baga) and Maiduguri on the night between March 15 and 16. ISWAP terrorists reported to have stormed the Mile 4 military camp, killing five Nigerian soldiers "at least" and injured several others, and burned most of the camp along with four military vehicles. ISWAP also states that they stormed they Buratai military camp, burning two armored vehicles after Nigerian troops completely fled the camp without resistance. Simultaneously, the group claimed to have burned a position of the Nigerian military in the Ajilari Cross area in western Maiduguri, and to have captured a vehicle, the group also shelled the Auno camp and another camp in Maiduguri with mortars at the same time.
