Today is historic. As the Intersex Society of South Africa, we warmly welcome the OHCHR’s groundbreaking report on discrimination and violence against intersex people. This moment brings hope for a future where intersex people can simply exist — free, visible, and safe. 💛💜🤍🖤

This Women’s Day, we honour the strength, courage, and leadership of ALL women, including intersex women, often erased from the narrative. At the Intersex Society of South Africa (ISSA), we stand with all women in the fight for bodily autonomy, equality, and justice.

This Women’s Month, we honour the intersex women whose names we may never know, yet whose strength has shaped our movement. We demand visibility, dignity, and justice for every woman in every body.

The Intersex Society of South Africa (ISSA), in collaboration with SAIF, participated in the screening of Iranti’s film, "The State of Gender-Affirming Healthcare in South Africa." Intersex people, like all people, deserve dignified, affirming, and person-centered care.

The Intersex Society of South Africa proudly took part in a transformative SAIF Onboarding Session, uniting intersex activists from across Southern Africa to strengthen, empower, and build a resilient intersex movement.

On this Youth Day, we honour the courage of every intersex youth: You deserve to grow up in a world where your body is respected, your identity is affirmed, and your dreams are celebrated. You are powerful. You are worthy. You are not alone.

This June, as we celebrate International Pride Month and Youth Month in South Africa, we recognize and uplift the voices, experiences, and contributions of intersex individuals, especially intersex youth. Let us continue building inclusive communities where no one is left behind.

Healing doesn’t imply that the hurt never happened. Instead, it signifies that the hurt no longer governs our lives as intersex people. We acknowledge the pain of erasure, misunderstanding, and being forced to explain or conform.

You embody the essence of diversity, resilience, and beauty. In a world that often attempts to confine intersex individuals to narrow definitions, your presence opens up space for truth, complexity, and authenticity.

Today, on May 17, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, especially intersex individuals, to affirm that every person deserves dignity, equality, and the freedom to live without fear of discrimination.

Our intersex bodies and identities deserve kindness rather than correction. We opt for understanding over judgment, acknowledging that we are worthy of tender, loving care. Even when the world may fail to understand us, we commit to treating

Nurturing our well-being is not an act of selfishness; rather, it signifies survival, strength, and self-love. As intersex individuals, we honor our minds and spirits just as profoundly as we honor our bodies every part of us deserves care.

Intersex people deserve care, respect, and healing just like anyone else. Your body, mind, and story all matter exactly as they are.
