Welcome to #ConservativeHour Last week, @Conservatives won 800+ seats in the local elections, exceeding pollsters’ predictions and signalling a Conservative comeback. What has surprised you the most about the events of the past week and are Conservatives ready to govern again?

The shine is starting to rub off 'honest Nigel.' Many of those who once worked closely with him are saying what a charlatan he is - lazy, driven only by money & ego. He'll continue to dupe some with his 'man of the people act,' but I sense his popularity has now passed its peak.

How I see it is that we you have stayed with the Conservatives don't really take any notice of Prosper UK. However some who went to Reform who want to convince themselves that they did the right thing will find any excuse to point out that we are full of wets and lib dems. As I say, I guess really it's a waste of time trying to reason with them. But, we do need to get across to the public in general that we are not the pre 24 Tories anymore.

It's not about what we want. I am talking about people not warming to us because they think the party is full of wets. Ask them what they mean about this then they say Lib Dems. Point out to them that Reform have ex Lib Dem Cllrs and Reform have some left wing policies were we don't, then they can't answer you. But they still go away believing the Tories are full of 'wets'. Perhaps we shouldn't be too concerned about what these ppl think. But I was just musing on the fact that Kemi is appealing to many of them but the rest of the party isn't, for some reason.

There once was an MP named Streeting, About whom the media are tweeting. He’s quite the young charmer, In contrast to Starmer, Who some colleagues hope he’ll be beating.

Time. People are rightly so still remembering the Tory party pre July 2024, and rightly or wrongly (and there is a lot of misinformation out there about what we did) they don't trust us yet. I think we need more actual physical time to distance ourselves from those days whilst trying to get the message across that we are renewing and are not the squabbling party that we were.

@Inthecountry76 @Conservatives Good eve Helen, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I think that’s a sensible view. Rebuilding trust was always going to take time, but Kemi is clearly connecting with voters and the party is moving back towards clearer conservative principles. What do you think is still missing?

@Inthecountry76 @SeddSezz It's a trope by Reform supporters who just believe the tosh pouring out of Zia Yusuf's mouth. The One Nation MPs are documented and their 'conversion' is also documented. The wets have also been expelled from CCHQ. It's a weak pushback by those with no ideas

I tell you what. I’ve watched Kemi for the past 15 minutes her growth into the Tory leadership is impressive. Apart from destroying Streeting into silence here, she’s made excellent points on the dangers of Digital ID, ballooning welfare, crooked lawyers and the ECHR. Even better, she’s telling quips at Labour’s expense, showing her charisma and stating plainly what we’re all thinking. Well done Kemi. It’s just a shame the party she leads is full of Tory wets instead of traditional small-state conservatives…

That's really nice to hear Sarah. Do you follow any of the Tory MPs on here? If not perhaps you could give it a go and see how they are renewing and rebuilding it under Kemi's brilliant leadership. We know we have a lot to do, and we know we messed up last time around, but thankfully time is on our hands but the party is working hard to try and hopefully give this country a serious centre right party option.

@GBNEWS I like Kemi. I might vote for Tories. Don't think I can bring myself to vote for Farage now. I've reconsidered.

When @KemiBadenoch asked me if I would go into the House of Lords I asked 2 things of her, 1st I wouldn’t lie (she said great that’s ok with me) & 2nd I needed to still find time to be grandma every week. I trust this woman to bring back the Conservative Party to be trusted too
