@ian_snow Editing is by far the hardest part for me. Every time I re-read my book I ended up making changes, always something to tweak and make better. Just take so long though. In the end I sorted out the preorder as that gave me a deadline then. My first book comes out in a few days :)

Edited chapter 9 out of 14 today. Please applaud. No wait...don't. It still sucks.

@davidfowl You should give grok 4.5 in grok build cli a try. They have a new /workflow mode that is really good for complex bits of work, like /goal but on steroids x.ai/news/workflows

After using 5.6 sol I feel like long horizon tasks need a different harness and app. Not sure the chat in the middle an diff on the right work well for more ambitious coding jobs

@omkarships I think it depends on what you do with that extra time. For me I'm spending even more time thinking and designing now that I did before. The extra time AI gives us to properly think about the problem before you jump into it has been great.

AI makes you dumber and lazier

For me it's always been about the problem solving, critical thinking and creative side of the job that made a good engineer. Developers who nail those skills tend to write better code anyway. And those skills are even more important now that AI is accelerating us to new heights 🙂

AI killed the illusion that being able to write code is what made you a good engineer.
