They didn’t vanish, they just stopped being the main characters. The Hightowers only felt like the Targaryens’ biggest rivals because House of the Dragon is centered on the Dance. By the time Game of Thrones begins, nearly 200 years have passed. House Hightower is still one of the richest and most powerful families in Westeros they’ve just gone back to ruling Old-town and pulling strings from the shadows instead of fighting for the Iron Throne. Power doesn’t always sit on the throne. Sometimes it sits behind it.

Me going "what the hell, sure" when he did this. It seems like holding long, coherent conversations in High Valyrian isn't his strength, but out of his love for Sunfyre, he memorized all the necessary commands.
