A very sad day today as I leave Inverclyde Academy. Thank you to all the staff and pupils for my gifts and cards, as well as for the brilliant times we’ve had together. I have loved every minute of it, and know you will all excel as the brilliant people you are. @invacad

The removal of #libraries also feels like a further erosion of the civic space where we encounter not just family, friends or colleagues but unfamiliar people. We need shared spaces which are not private shops, malls or retail parks. The internet is not enough for us to flourish.

The Big Yin is 80 today. Been hanging on his career since 1974! He's given me more laughs than any other comedian - But his profundity should always be recognised... This - being one very close to my heart.
