Friends, find me on the platform where skies are blue - under the same name. Fuck oligarchs, esp the owner of this place. Ukrainians are still fighting. Navalny resisted to the end. We can't rationalize giving up. How many defenders of democracy fought & died before us? ✊🏼🇺🇸✊🏼

Predictably, Trump's supporters are using Biden's dubious pardon decision to excuse Trump's serial lies and acts of nepotism and self-dealing. It was a gift to the once and future president & his apologists. "You see, nothing's on the legit. We all swim in the same dirty pool."

@RadioFreeTom Tom, that needn't be so if right-thinking commentators wd push back: To prosecute a violations of that subsection of the statute absent an aggravating factor (straw purchase, gang affiliation, etc.) is unheard of. A former US Atty, Weiss knew this. It was overreach. Punitive.

Patel, and Trump, love the confrontation; but they don't begin to understand the consequence for our safety and security -- yours and mine -- of dropping a bomb on FBI headquarters. Their agenda couldn't be more destructive if the blueprint was devised in the Kremlin.

@SarahLongwell25 Sarah, I value your work. You're wrong about this, tho. In 30 yrs in an FPD office, I saw 1000s of fed gun cases; worked on 100s. NONE charged this statutory violation absent aggravating factors (e.g., gang, straw purchase, use of the weapon in another crime). It was overreach.

“Trump is worse” is never a good argument to justify bad behavior. Yes, Trump’s horrible, that’s why we oppose him. In fact, the worse Trump is, the more important it is to #resist doing anything that resembles Trump’s conduct. Biden knows it’s wrong. That’s why he committed over and over to not doing it. It doesn’t make him the same as Trump. It doesn’t erase how singularly corrupt Trump’s current appointments are. It’s simply wrong and we should say so, lest we forget that right and wrong still exist and awareness of it matters in our President.

@SykesCharlie Charlie, I'm an admirer of yours. May I offer some perspective (not the std whatabouttism)? I worked many 100s of fed gun cases over 30 yrs in a fed public defender office. NONE were for this infraction. It doesn't get charged absent aggravating factors, e.g., straw purchase.

I’m afraid I have to agree on this one.

While as a father I certainly understand President @JoeBiden’s natural desire to help his son by pardoning him, I am disappointed that he put his family ahead of the country. This is a bad precedent that could be abused by later Presidents and will sadly tarnish his reputation. When you become President, your role is Pater familias of the nation. Hunter brought the legal trouble he faced on himself, and one can sympathize with his struggles while also acknowledging that no one is above the law, not a President and not a President’s son.

@SykesCharlie Hold on a damn minute. Was this used to justify the pardons of Joe Arpaio, Steve Bannon, Rod Blagojevich, Dinesh D'Souza, Michael Flynn, Edward Gallagher, Charles Kushner, Clint Lorance, Paul Manafort, George Papadopolous, Albert Pirro, or Roger Stone?

Pardon of Hunter Biden is in the best interests of justice. Based on the facts, most federal prosecutors would have declined to charge him. The botched misdemeanor guilty plea and sentence of diversion were a tell that the special counsel had the same assessment. t.co/QpqBpZL38F

@FXRegan @ProfMJCleveland @BarbMcQuade B.S. Even if (if) you were an FBI S/A, you didn't make charging decisions. I spent 30 yrs in an FPD office. Cases involving 10x that amount of delinquent taxes are routinely handled as civil matters. And, in 100s & 100s of fed gun cases, I never saw one charged under that...

Patel nomination is an affront to professionals at the FBI, who won’t forget it even if Patel goes down. It’s also a challenge to the Senate to see if it will just roll over. A total a-hole move by Trump.
