Honest question, not meant to be provocative: On all the streaming services there are new categories like “Black Voices” or “LGBTQ Perspectives”. Does anyone use these genre categories? Is the expectation that people in these identity categories would choose to watch that programming? For example, I go to the “Science Fiction” genre because that is what I am interested in. If there was a genre that described some aspect of my identify (“Italian American Male Perspectives”) I would skip it, because it would not be at all descriptive of what the content was. Is it a drama? Documentary? Romantic Comedy? Does anyone use these identify genres to discover content?
