☕ Coffee Break! It is time to take a quick look at the demonstration stations. Here each project can show the results of their research. 🍪 But first let’s have a snack!

"When should we prioritise capacity and when safety? What is a good tradeoff?" 🛩️ They investigated different kind of scenarios within the go-arounds framework. #Aviation #Airport #AI

The first project of the day is #SafeOPS which will be presented by Lukas Beller from @TU_Muenchen. He will highlight the outcomes of the project, focusing on how they evaluated an #AI based decision support for making complex decisions in the context of go-arounds. #ATCOs #ML

"The challenges are many, from coping with increased traffic, to operate in adverse weather because of climate change or to design operator-centred technologies... The right mindset should be: “Do we really need it?” Avoid creating #AI just because it is fancy, but useless."

📢 Let’s start with the first speaker Marc Baumgartner (@skyguide), ATCO and ex-President of @ifatca. 🎙️ His speech "Digitalisation in ATM: will it be Human?" will explore #ATCOs role in the current and future ATM systems. @SESAR_JU #Automation #AI

😅Highlighted results: "It is interesting that some suggestions coming from the public are related to non-critical cases, that means we are not completely trusting #AI in those environments. Basically, we want an AI that solves problems and does not bring other problems itself."

"Which are our expectations regarding #AI? Do you think AI could help facing the current and future #aviation domain challenge?" ✈️ These are the first questions Stefano asked the audience, through a survey regarding AI perception.

"We should create a reliable #AI ecosystem able to manage #UAS. Jarus is working on the automation of aircraft systems and autonomy through definition of levels of automation, safety dependence of automated functions and trustworthiness requirements of automated functions."

"The missing ring between research and deployment in society is regulation. But: what should we regulate? Regulation intends to regulate the output of the #ML procedure, not the algorithm itself. We need to create a “safe box”."

❓How to certify highly complex systems in a highly complex environment? Giovanni Di Antonio from #ENAC is now presenting his view on #UAS automation and autonomy. #Aviation
