The High Trestle Trail and Raccoon River Valley Trail Connection Ride to Ribbon Cutting was a great success! We want to give a huge shoutout to everyone who worked to make this trail connection possible, like Dallas County Conservation Board, @INHF, Raccoon River Valley Trail Association, @railstotrails and many more! Hundreds of cyclists and trail enthusiasts rode along the new trail link joined in the ribbon cutting ceremony in the city of Bouton. This trail extension will have an important impact for the communities along the trail and create a lasting legacy of economic, tourism, and health and wellness benefits. Iowa Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Luke Hoffman is honored to be invited by the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association to lead the inaugural ride to celebrate the opening of the connector trail between High Trestle and Raccoon River Valley Trails. Join us at High Trestle Trail and Raccoon River Valley Trail Connection Ride to Ribbon Cutting and ride the new section of trail on Saturday, August 17th. We are looking forward to see how our communities in Iowa, like the Perry Chamber of Commerce, benefit from increased outdoor recreation opportunities. Great to see the hard work from the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and Dallas County Conservation Board come together! The RRVT and High Trestle Trail are in the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Hall of Fame and have put Iowa on the map for tourism and recreation. We are working on the future vision complete the Iowa sections of the Great American Rail-Trail with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is proud to see this new crosswalk protections law taking effect here in Iowa that will extend protections to all users, including cyclists. The Coalition championed this effort as their priority bill this legislative session. Executive Director Luke Hoffman said in a statement, “Whether you are out on the trails as a cyclist, a person with disabilities in a wheelchair, a senior citizen on an electric scooter, a kid on a skateboard, or a parent with a baby in a stroller, it's a win for all Iowans.
