Why are you convinced Feenstra gets the R nomination? I think the nominee will be at the determined at the Republican State Convention (after an indecisive primary election). I think it likely another candidate will end up in that role.

@DMRegister It makes sense that the federal government should know who is voting in federal elections, right? If states want to hold separate elections for all state functions, that is fine but federal elections should only be for verified US citizens.

As we prepare for the primary elections, we want to know not only your ideas for the future but your qualifications from past efforts. Your work to re-organize state government tells me volumes about your ability to understand and fully utilize Iowa's state government for the betterment of its citizens. You should bring that out more.

@CyDaderino @DMRegister I accept the changes that happen in elections. I would want the same from those who I disagree with. Changes were made in the current administration to address previous disasters of leadership.

@IowaHobbit @DMRegister Also, when the taxpayers decide to change the elected officials at midterms due to the current disaster, be a nice little MAGA and enjoy democracy with a smile.

The fall of Portland, Oregon Here are major retailers that left Portland over declining conditions due to Democrat policies from 2022–2026 - Nike Community Factory Store (Operated since 1984, 40 years) Closed permanently because of 276 shoplifting reports in one year. They cited deteriorating public safety. Nike sent a letter to the mayor citing conditions - Walmart (Both Portland Locations)
580 employees laid off - Target (Three Stores)
Reason: Explicitly cited organized retail crime and shoplifting - REI
Reason: Highest break-in rate in two decades; over $800,000 spent on extra security in 2022 (including multiple incidents, one with a vehicle through the doors on Black Friday) - U.S. Bank (U.S. Bancorp Tower) Announced it would not renew its long-term lease
Building Sale: Sold in July 2025 for $45 million (down from $372 million in 2015 — ~88% value decline). - Wells Fargo
Announced plans to exit Portland - Starbucks
Closed at least 5–6 Portland locations in September 2025 alone. - Nordstrom Rack (Downtown)
 - CVS Pharmacy (SW Broadway) Reason: Employee cited shoplifting as a factor Malls Major Retail Centers also closed Pioneer Place Mall: Once had roughly 100 stores. It’s now down to 20. Described as a “dead mall.” • Lloyd Center Mall: Confirmed for full demolition. Now 90% vacant PacWest Center: Sold October 2025 for $55.7 million (down from $170 million in 2016. That’s a 67% drop) - Montgomery Park: Sold August 2024 for $33 million (down from $255 million in 2019, that’s a 87% drop)

@CyDaderino @DMRegister OK, now we understand your position. You are anti religion. You are anti Republican. We live in an amazing country that even allows bigots to share their opinion. Vouchers are here to stay and they are making Iowa a better place. I hope you find a solution to your anger issues.

@IowaHobbit @DMRegister If they wanted educated voters they’d just fund the public system better. All the voucher scam does is allow private schools to preach the religion cult or the maga cult to keep voters republican.

@elonmusk Such a beautiful scene. But when you share no description, I feel the need to assume every picture you post is AI generated. For me, human appreciation of what the creator has done is more significant that demonstrating you can create beautiful pictures.

That is such a silly comment. No it not a theft. The government pays for many services that benefit citizens. There is no fundamental reason that the government be the sole provider of educational services K-12. Already many private colleges and technical training programs are subsidized by government (public) dollars. It appears that one political force wants to support the institutions that many of their supporters work for. There are other ways to reach the goal of educating our citizens without spending $26,000 per student (2026-27 budget) as is done in Des Moines.

The taxpayers of Iowa decided through their elected legislators to provide these vouchers to citizens of Iowa using money they paid into taxes to provide for a public good: a quality education. The goal of government is to have educated citizens. They are getting that through vouchers. It is a good and prudent use of public money.

Rest assured, the people/schools who are using vouchers are paying property taxes that fund the local schools. The voucher amount is the basic level of support the state (not local school district) gives each district for their students. As stated, Des Moines is spending $26,000 per student this year. That is public money. Private schools are providing educational services, often of higher calibre, for less. I support this process

@WallStreetApes Start with nothing, THEN build a DNA sequence that maintains and reproduces itself. At that point you can say you have created life. As is, you are simply modifying things the creator already made.

Scientists have created “the first synthetic species” after 15 years of research costing $40 million dollars It’s a bacteria designed on a computer that “gets its genetic instructions from a synthetic chromosome made by man, not nature, and it's alive. It's alive and self-replicating. It means it can indefinitely grow and make copies of itself.” “Venter believes this is the first baby step in a biological revolution, one in which it will be possible to custom design and reprogram bacteria — DNA is the software of life” This work is considered a foundational milestone in synthetic biology, allegedly proving life could be engineered from scratch

I will give a purely pre-1900 scientific view of this phenomena and say it was simply evolution of the rubic cube. They each changed by natural selection over time due to random motion. There was nothing intelligent about this process. Entirely accidental caused by natural forces of nature.
