My favorite part of property tax defenders’ argument is that “It pays for the schools, police, and firefighters!” Okay, so if we all (sparingly) use the same services in a community, why aren’t property taxes equal? In other words, you pay the same amount? Instead, you pay whatever the government assesses your property value to be. Talk about a scam!

This car was parked straight across the sidewalk like the owner owned the whole damn walkway. Some people want to label it as making too much out of a small thing, but is it really? It’s easy to say “pick your battles,” but at what point does this kind of blatant disregard for basic civic responsibility actually become encouragement through silence? Does tolerating it simply give permission to those who don’t care about anyone but themselves to keep being a growing nuisance to everyone else around them?

Honestly, I think it’s ridiculous that every time I drop off my 2yo at Montessori, I have to drag in my 7 mo who weighs like 28 pounds in a stroller instead of just leaving him in the car for like two minutes tops. I’ve thought about doing it, but I could imagine one of the parents telling on me or something.

I went to school in the suburbs in the 80s. We had very few black kids in the school, but those black kids fit right in, they hung out with us, they were part of our class and we treated them no different than the white kids. I don't remember racism being a problem as kid, other than my old grandma who was stuck in another time period. Then... Obama got elected. Obama getting elected was the peak of racism being almost stamped out I think. Then he and the Democrat party stoked the flames of division, and it's been down hill ever since. Change my mind.

@HRH_SHP I’m more a Phyllis person. I use soap when I shower so I reuse my towels. I do laundry usually once a week, sometimes longer. Change sheets approximately monthly.

Since dirty Phyllis wants to make claims and act like I’m the weird one for being clean, I’ll ask, how often do you wash bedsheets? For me, it’s once a week (on Fridays) unless they get dirty earlier. Laundry is daily and towels are every use.

@abylurv My BIL offered to meet us halfway back, but it was a tight schedule. Luckily, I had my passport in my suitcase. But I had no money and no phone for a week. Basically my sis sponsored my trip in DC until we got home.

A woman loses her home in a fire. She asks insurance to rebuild the SAME home—no upgrades, no expansion. Insurance says NO. Her policy only covers what the house USED to cost. After years of paying premiums, she finds out the “coverage” disappears when she actually needs it.
