Today marks the anniversary of the 1987 chemical bombing of Sardasht. 4 decades ago, the whole world stood by & watched in silence while Iraqi dictator Saddam bombed Iran 's Sardasht with mustard gas. Over 100 people killed in this #ChemicalAttack & thousands exposed to chemical agents. @OPCW

Reza Pahlavi on Iran War: I think one of the main reasons for the global response—particularly by the two countries that became involved with the Islamic Republic over the past few months, Israel and the United States—was the trip I made to Israel two years ago.

Iran’s FM Araghchi: Under the memorandum of understanding, the Strait of Hormuz will return to its pre-war operating capacity within 30 days under the management adopted by Iran and after the obstacles are removed by the Islamic Republic of Iran. These arrangements are currently being implemented, and responsibility for them rests solely with the Islamic Republic of Iran. No other institution or country bears responsibility in this regard. According to the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States, any interference in this matter, or any attempt to establish new or separate arrangements from those currently being implemented by the Islamic Republic of Iran, will only complicate the situation, delay the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and increase tensions. As we witnessed over the past two nights, incidents in the Strait of Hormuz have already contributed to rising tensions and confrontations. I call on all parties not to interfere in the management of the Strait of Hormuz or in the arrangements being made by the Islamic Republic of Iran for its reopening. They should abide by the signed memorandum of understanding and not allow it to deviate from its intended course.

Iran’s FM Araghchi: I believe that, with the new circumstances that have emerged, the security of the Persian Gulf and the security of the region must be reconsidered by all the countries of the region. We must reach a new framework that includes all the countries of the region and excludes the presence or interference of any country from outside the region.

Fuad Hussein in a presser with FM Araghchi: Iran-Iraq ties are rooted in history, geography, religion & strategic interests. Iran is our neighbor & it is regrettable that it came under attack. We oppose war and aggression against any country. We do not support the expansion of the war & never have. We oppose the aggression against Iran because this war must end in the region. It would bring destruction to the entire region, not just one country. The region must ensure its own security, and various regional mechanisms could be established to safeguard it.

IRGC’s Navy command has also issued a statement, saying the US’s attack on the city of Sirik “does not solve the mystery of our dominance over the strait, but our firing at the violators reminds the rest of the vessels of the clear path of passage”. “The American bases in the region are a separate matter. They will experience hell in these days,” it added.
