Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026

On 1 July, Ireland takes over the Presidency of the Council of the EU for the 8th time. In an uncertain world, our strength is reinforced when we stand together. In Ireland, the seanfhocal or proverb “Ní neart go cur le chéile” reminds us that we have “Strength with unity”.

The @Ireland2026EU logo is inspired by the spiral structure of galaxies, with each arm featuring 27 discs, symbolising the 27 EU Member States. The slogan, “Ní neart go cur le chéile”, comes from an Irish seanfhocal or proverb and reflects that we have “Strength with unity”.

Fantastic news that all EU member states have given the green light to open Cluster 1 in accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, with the new Hungarian government lifting their block on Ukraine. Grateful for the work of the Cyprus presidency in achieving this and looking forward to continuing this work in the second half of the year.
