@willofthewheel @itxrydaz @GameSpot "Mo/Siuan would have worked in books, as would Elayne/Avi" - What the hell are you talking about? The woke changes were almost all of the problems. These dumb writers completely neglected the main male story lines because they wanted to make the whole story about gay witches.

@datadriven_tdoc @SearchlightInst Trans ppl and allies must tell the truth about being trans to overturn MAGA's lies. For example, trans women aren't confused men who think they're women. Being trans isn't being confused, mentally ill or other smears. Evidence points to a mismatch betw brain & body.

The @SearchlightInst is seeking to advance a pragmatic and data-informed approach to policy around contentious issues in order to improve the electoral outlook for Democrats They have correctly identified trans politics, and particular the democrats embrace of aspects of trans policy that is out of step with public opinion as a vulnerability, while also demonstrating areas where the public remains supportive But what Searchlight’s work also highlights is the lack of a complementary pragmatic infrastructure in the trans advocacy space to advance trans rights and dignity in the context of what is achievable in the current environment, and that is focused on building consensus and durable support for these accommodations in the public sphere This seems to be to represent an unfilled demand. One that would likely have appeal to a large constituent of trans people, ciis allies, and could earn the support of the donor class, which has shown an eagerness to support trans protections but who instead donate to causes that are more progressive than their underlying politics And most importantly, one that may be effective in both firming up support and preventing attrition where it is currently strong, and making the compelling arguments to the politically unaligned on areas where support is softer or eroding So why hasn’t this gap been filled? And is someone looking to fill it?

@SilentSkyZero @datadriven_tdoc @SearchlightInst Here is the problem. The more "integrated" a trans person is, the more likely s/he is trying to go stealth. So they don't want to be visible, and they don't want to speak up. And it's hard to advocate for people who do not want to be seen.

@SilentSkyZero @datadriven_tdoc @SearchlightInst This is the dumbest argument. We - terms - won because we let the TRAs speak. We let them explain the need for swinging dicks is women's shower. Continue telling people that they need to be educated and all they hear is you saying they're too stupid.

I think it's super important to always consider the strategy of how things got here in the first place. It's easy to say things like... Ignore sports, for example, but, that's ignoring why sports was a focus at all. The ultimate goal is to legislate who is or isn't a man or a woman, and when that's done, the groundwork is laid for far more intrusive policies. I really agree that it was a mistake to try and force local leagues to allow trans people on their teams, but, just giving up on this issue to seem reasonable, cosigns the right wing propaganda on this issue. The only reason any of this worked is because even "allies" believe the myths that the misinformation if based on. And while educating family and friends is super important, at the end of the day they'll most likely abandon their trans loved one because in their mind, that's not who the trans community is. They think the dangerous policies they advocate won't affect them. They think it will only affect the blue haired rainbow wearing screaming image that has been built in their head. Democrats should spend a ton of money on just putting out facts in an easily digested way with representation that is appealing to the people who they need to educate. This will be irritating to the lgbt political activist community, but, you'll never change anyone's mind with a spokesperson that is literally the stereotype the audience has in their head. Both Democrats and Republicans have done a really good job at convincing the right that trans people are the symbol of ultra "woke" liberalism. The kind that they are terrified of. I'm not super confident that Democrats will ever do what's necessary, because again, at the end of the day they believe the myths that the lies are based on.

If you refer to trans women exclusively as trans women, even in context where the fact they’re trans doesn’t matter but you refer to cìs women exclusively as women, even in contexts where the fact they’re cìs matters THEN YOU ARE TRANSPHOBIC AND OTHERING TRANS WOMEN

@datadriven_tdoc One of these is a spider and one an ant. Because statistically everyone would "interpret" The spider as an ant, the good doctor would argue that we just call the spider an and even when we learn it's a spider.

We need to separate femininity and femaleness as rhetorical concepts It actually does a heavy lift for explaining how even non-effeminate trans women (and ciis women) are interpreted as women without being feminine And why, by corollary, well medicalized trans women are not simply effeminate men, especially when they are not conforming to stereotypes of effeminacy
👩‍⚕️ Dr. Laura 👩‍⚕️@datadriven_tdoc

You interpret a person as being butch (and not a man) not because they are presenting femininity, but because they are presenting femaleness You pick up on the femaleness without you needing to do a cheek swab or a gonadal assessment, even when there is little femininity being expressed Similarly, if this same butch was natally male, you would still interpret her as an unfeminine female, (even though she was natally male) That is because you are picking up on femaleness

@IrieRobin @jack_turban SCOTUS will rule at least 7-2 against the administration. This is very clearly a major questions issue. Gorsuch cannot possibly rule for the administration, nor can Roberts.

The problem I have with your argument is the arbitrary threshold of “viability”. Why is that meaningful? It’s intuitive, but emotional rather than rational. “Viability” is a moving target based only on environment, and nothing to do with how we could - or should - balance the relative values of rights around autonomy, life, suffering etc.

I am against decriminalisation of late stage abortion as abortion has always been a compromise in competing rights & completely disregarding the rights of a viable unborn child is wrong. Courts can exercise leniency or not as the case demands. Blanket decriminalisation is wrong.

“Starfleet was never a box checking exercise.” Tell that to Gene Roddenberry who went out of his way to make sure a Black woman, a Japanese-American man, a Russian, a disabled man and former enemies like the Klingons were on his bridges.
Skye Maidstone@skyemaidstone

@jessiegender No it was never woke. It was first and foremost Starfleet was a meritocracy. It was never a box checking exercise. Cisco, for example, not even written for a black actor. They just picked the best actor that auditioned. Hence it was actually good.

Trans women on HRT experience hot flashes, breast development, fat redistribution, and muscle atrophy that cis men simply don't. We're physically closer to cis women than our former selves. If you actually cared about "biological reality," you'd acknowledge hormones drive these characteristics, not chromosomes. You don't check anyone's karyotype before treating them as their observed sex. Treat trans women as women (because we are) and stop being an asshole.
Dev@sleepy_devo

nobody reasonable actually thinks that trans women metamorphose into biological females you fucking retard. the ask is not "believe that men are women", it's "don't be an asshole". you don't have to like trans people. you do have to leave them alone.

Antisemites choose to not understand the rules of war. If a terrorist uses civilian infrastructure to operate out of, that becomes a valid military target. It’s also a war crime. There were zero casualties because Israel warned people before striking.

An Israeli airstrike struck an apartment building in central Beirut, on Wednesday. The Israeli army had warned residents to evacuate about an hour before completely flattening it as day broke.

Yesterday this terf said one woman saying no was enough and today is bragging about two organisations that were bullied into complying with GC ideology when both made it very clear they didn't want to. Both said no. Gender criticals don't care about women's consent.
