@PRO_Galway_Ball @loquacious334 It wasn’t a poor interview — Moran was straight about it, owned the performance and gave Roscommon their due, which is exactly what you’d want after a loss. Galway are used to dressing mutton up as lamb. Might take some pointers from Andy.

@declanganley You’re arguing with a version of St. Patrick that never existed. The real one left his own account—kidnapped, enslaved, and shaped by it long before he preached. That’s in his Confessio, not a “leftie rewrite.” If that’s news to you, the problem isn’t the speech.

I went to the Presidential website and listened to the whole speech. When referring to the event she calls it "St. Patrick's Day", when referring to Ireland's patron Saint, it's first name terms only. Catherine (if the informal first name and dropping of title is appropriate for Saint Patrick, then it's more than appropriate for elected on quarter of the electorate Cathy) goes on to tell us that St. Patrick came to Ireland to "give voice and his life to fostering an awareness of the consequences of slavery..." Meanwhile, as an anointed Bishop, in what must have been his spare time, he converted Ireland to Christianity and firmly rooted the Catholic faith in the country, he spent is life in serious prayer, fasting and preaching the Gospel. St. Patrick was not some leftie NGO. There is nothing sacred to these oddballs, not even our patron saint and the Christian faith he brought to our shores.
Kirk_Loco@Polito_loco

In 63 seconds, Ireland's new President, and her first ST. Patrick's Day message she sends out a message to humiliate Ireland with woke nonense. In 63 seconds She calls SAINT Patrick, Patrick four times. In turn ignoring Ireland's Catholic historical traditions. Refuses to wear green, opting for black instead like a funeral. And espouses a historically innacurate version of events comparing St Patrick to a migrant (he was a slave!) to create a modern day socialist propaganda speech. Disgraceful.

St. Patrick’s Day around the world is a day rooted in community, humanity, friendship and fellowship. Conor McGregor’s remarks are wrong, and do not reflect the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, or the views of the people of Ireland.

Love or hate Conor McGregor he does represent the views of many Irish people. Martin & Harris can say what they like with their statements but plenty are glad he used his platform to raise the issues he did today.

Whatever you may think of him is up to you but it is literally EVERYWHERE and Conor McGregor seriously hurt the establishment today. And hurt them badly It is certainly not a message they want going out to BILLONS of people worldwide that the government of this country has flooded Ireland with mass immigration most of which should not be here Even just the fact that it was @TheNotoriousMMA in the @WhiteHouse today on St Patrick’s Day meeting @realDonaldTrump and not @MichealMartinTD is a real blow and horrible optics for our Taoiseach It won’t go down well at all with them, but they need to take a real hard look at themselves and wonder how the hell did this come about in the first place Maybe it’s because of them and their insane policies. And being told that no one in Ireland has a veto as to who is placed in our towns and villages. Just deal with it!! Well, maybe it was just dealt with no matter what you may think of the messenger
