We often hear that some people are advised to 'reintroduce' gluten after a while, but as coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition and not an allergy, it requires lifelong management following a diagnosis.​ ​ Although we are working towards finding a cure, currently the treatment is a strict gluten free diet for life.
