@NavyLookout @AC_NavalHistory I’m pretty sure money could accelerate builds, are they working around the clock? If not that’s a quick win. Are they holding off ordering certain things to stay in an in year budget rather than just buy everything they need? It shouldn’t take a decade to build a frigate !

Not sure money could accelerate the current delivery programme significantly, but govt could place the orders to replace the T26 frigates ceded to Norway - giving certainty to supply chain and reassurance to the Navy and allies.
Should also fund FADS programme and consider continued low-rate production of Type 31s beyond 5th ship.

@NavyLookout It’s a cheap political nothing statement, you can’t just build ships faster,they need the crews the support, the training and time to iron out issues with the first of type when it launches. I’d rather the tories committing to honouring/increasing numbers of the T82/T31 platforms

Let us be clear: Britannia Royal Naval College remains the home of Officer training. There are no plans to sell BRNC and its central role in developing naval leaders continues. The immovable high standards to pass out of BRNC have not altered.

The Royal Navy is making huge changes to Officer training. BRNC will no longer carry out initial naval training. Now all junior officers will spend 11 weeks at HMS RALEIGH alongside ratings before conducting leadership training at BRNC.
