@AKDay89 Venezuela was a lucky shot. To plan accordingly to that model shows a supreme lack of intelligence.

I suspect the best explanation for this cockamamie idea is that the Trump admin was fixated on the "Venezuela model" and concluded Ahmadinejad was the best option given his conflict with the state and presidential experience. He'd owe his power and freedom to Trump! Only problem: While he was maybe the most plausible Delcy Rodriguez figure, after current regime figures wouldn't play ball or couldn't be reached, the plan was never very plausible, because Iran is not Venezuela.
Danny (Dennis) Citrinowicz ,داني سيترينوفيتش@citrinowicz

It’s hard to overstate how implausible this plan was. The idea that an air campaign could somehow pave the way for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a figure deeply despised by Khamenei and long marginalized by the regime, to return to power in Iran was detached from political reality from the start. Ahmadinejad never had meaningful backing from the Revolutionary Guards, and there was never a credible path for him to seize control of the state. As more details emerge about the Iran campaign, the clearer it becomes how recklessly underprepared it was and how profoundly its architects misunderstood Iran’s political and military system. This was not merely a failed operation; it was a fiasco rooted in a strategy that bore little resemblance to the realities on the ground. The Ahmadinejad episode is simply another nail in the coffin of the fantasy that outside military pressure could engineer regime change in Iran. I don’t know what other details about these plans are still waiting to emerge, but the pattern is already unmistakable: the Kurds, Ahmadinejad, faith in air power, fantasies of eliminating Ali Khamenei — every element pointed toward the same inevitable conclusion. The failure was visible from the start. The people who designed this operation may have had power, resources, and confidence, but they lacked the one thing that mattered most: any real understanding of Iran. KAN: The joint U.S.-Israeli preparations for a possible resumption of the war with Iran have been completed, adding that President Trump is expected to make a decision very soon. Israeli officials say alert levels are now at their highest point since last month’s ceasefire, amid fears Iran could launch a preemptive attack due to the recent war rhetoric and Trump’s statements

@JacobL1994_ Israel should have picked a better pahlavi(there are quite a few), started a civil war with clear sides and goals, and allowed regime elements to defect while keeping up the pressure. The rebellion should started in tehran while it was bombed for a few days non-stop.

@JacobL1994_ cutting communications when your interceptor stockpiles are reaching double digits isn't strategy. Also kurdish "uprising" would be crushed. You needed years of weapon / money / comms smuggling to pahlavists and a suprise attack followed by rebellion, and a short civil war.

@JacobL1994_ What was israel's regime change plan? Cause what we saw from here in iran was a country that can't plan cautiously or anticipate its foes adaptations or risk taking. They also picked the ugly cuckhold pahlavi instead of davud(david) pahlavi.

I do not believe Trump will relaunch the war on Iran any time soon. I believe that he will follow the now so familiar pattern of threats, mock negotiations and social media posts to manipulate the markets until he can safely ride the mid terms to consolidate his position to put troops on the ground in Iran. This is the most likely scenario.

Israeli media: The main reason for Trump's postponement of attacks on Iran is the Pentagon's warning that Iran is strengthening its air defenses.
