I’m fascinated by the question of what holds the Christian life together at the level of spiritual mechanics, not merely at the level of doctrine or ethics.
What is the common denominator beneath love, faith, repentance, and grace?
I don’t see these as separate routes to God or rival explanations of salvation, but interwoven dimensions of one spiritual reality that must be held together.

We cannot follow what we cannot see.
In our age, the problem is rarely a lack of religious desire, but a loss of spiritual perception. We have learned to speak about God, analyze God, and perform spirituality, while the deeper faculty that recognizes Him as living Presence has grown dim.
The spiritual mind is not merely a set of beliefs, but a faculty within the soul designed to receive Divine life. By “the natural mind”, I mean the everyday level of consciousness through which we manage life, form opinions, and even practice religion externally. It is capable of morality and discipline, yet unable to generate illumination.
Only the spiritual mind can recognize God’s presence as more than an idea. As it awakens, the soul is reordered at its center. Love turns toward its true end, the Lord Himself. Service and worship cease to be tasks performed for outcomes and become the soul’s natural motion, the heart returning to what it was made for.

Most of us can sense it, even if we can’t name it: something in the soul has dimmed, and we’re trying to follow God through fog.
But what if the deepest part of us is not gone, but asleep?
Beneath belief and behavior lies a higher faculty, a level of consciousness Jesus called “the lamp of the body.” My book refers to it as the spiritual mind: a real structure within the soul, designed to receive Divine Light.
While this mind sleeps, the soul remains divided, struggling to follow a God it cannot yet see. When it awakens, God is no longer a theory to accept, but a Presence to perceive. The aim of spiritual life is no longer mere belief, but the awakening of this inner eye.
