Buffy: Believe it or not, Jonathan, I understand about the pain.
Jonathan: Oh, right! Because the burden of being beautiful and athletic, that's a crippler!
Buffy: You know what? I was wrong. You are an idiot. My life happens to, on occasion, suck beyond the telling of it. Sometimes more than I can handle.

@BuffyLookBook @TiaNEVERTamera @Film_Fuzion @TV_Fanatic_Girl @Glory_Is_Ben Her pics with JM came from a movie she did mostly at Buffy sets during The Gift filming days thanks to Joss (she gave even a thank you credit).
English

@TheCinesthetic Yes. It happened a lot every time Joss wrote & directed. To be fair he was the only one with freedom to direct like he wanted (that was common back then in network TV).
English

The fact Sarah Michelle Gellar never got major awards recognition for “The Body” in Buffy the Vampire Slayer still feels ridiculous.
cinesthetic.@TheCinesthetic
Which TV performance deserved way more awards recognition?
English

@FUFFGEL By S4 the show lost its showrunner and his number 2. Then came a new showrunner. Fired after 2 months. Then a new showrunner and a new number 2. They worked pretty much alone (except storybreaking).
English

@retrocvnty Joss wrote the scene while listening to Shawshank Redemption score. Last track.
English

@spikefawn In terms of writing and some production stuff S4-7 were way more team effort than S1-3.
English

@1918friends Thats the point of the series the writers worked mostly alone cause the show lost all 3 main bosses due to Firefly (Joss, but still overseeing scripts and doing storybreaking), maternity (Marti) and Angel (Fury).
English

@unknownmerc @1918friends S6 still had showrunner. S7 began without the boss (except overseeing + final pass), without S6 showrunner, without her number two. Writers worked mostly alone sometimes.

@marconerodr @retrocvnty And btw nobody cared about the actual showrunners (poor Zuckerman sisters). The Buffy we love had little input by any director (and less by any actor). Script was final. SMG forgets or has little idea about OG show (well thats not new info lol)
English

@marconerodr @retrocvnty What vision? She didnt write it and she wasn't the showrunner. That why this revival failed. Writers run TV, not directors of actors. SMG forget Buffy was writers land but she wanted to be main Exec Prod along another non creative like Zhao.
English

@Gelandin1 @buffyslouis Show name was 'Buffy'. Also there was no 'writers' doing any storyline but Joss. Every storybreaking session began with Joss asking where was Buffy in terms of her emotional journey.
English

@buffyslouis Much as I love Buffy (the show), I think the writers went a little too far in making the whole world revolve around Buffy (the character). I think Angel was often reduced to a brooding machine in order to give Buffy motivation for whatever the plot of the week was.
English

the way they had his ass doing this shit in s1 of angel after spending 3 years in buffy acting like a monotone piece of cardboard

English

@retrocvnty That was the whole point of the series: real life issues dressed as supernatural stuff. Thats why Joss started every storybreaking session asking where was Buffy in terms of her emotional journey. And then the 'monster' or whatever as metaphor.
English

@TiaNEVERTamera Joss spent 2 month doing it (and 4 writing it) during production of episodes 4 to 8 (except 7, of course). Including music and voice recording, dance rehearsals, filming and editing. Meanwhile Noxon ran the rest of the show.
English

@caitsjxo Fun fact: writer of the episode slept at Buffy' bed cause he had little time to pen the script.
English

@Araknne1 Buffy. Aunque lo que más llegamos a ver fue la versión fake en la que rodaron casi todo en estudio.
Español

@torturedfuture @caitsjxo Well, first year Joss didn't run Buffy and also a bit less Angel work at writers room so that year Greenie and Minear worked a bit less with him.
English

@AilishSinclair @TheCinesthetic Network asked for it when Joss sent his final draft (when boss wrote he did no first draft at all, only final... Sometimes in 3 days)

“The Body” in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2001), Joyce’s death hits out of nowhere and just leaves you stunned, the whole episode sits in that shock and it doesn’t let you shake it off.
cinesthetic.@TheCinesthetic
What was the most shocking scene you've ever seen on a show?
