According to Janamsakhi tradition, they reached a forest where a cannibal named Kauda Rakshas lived. Kauda captured Bhai Mardana and intended to cook and eat him. When Guru Nanak arrived, he calmly stood before Kauda. The Guru’s divine presence and spiritual power transformed Kauda’s heart. Instead of punishing him, Guru Nanak gave him darshan (divine blessing). Kauda repented for his sins and abandoned his cruel ways. The painting artistically shows Kauda near a boiling pot, Bhai Mardana in danger, and Guru Nanak blessing and redeeming him.
