Bit of a breakdown on our current squad but I am liking the idea of what we’re trying to build because it finally looks to have a bit of plan in there. Granted, this would probably be my ideal XI.

@IsolatedPlay_ The attacker you give the ball to in most of the attacks and that player mostly stays high. For me Messi is Argentina's outlet even though he doesn't stretch the defense in behind.

Outlets are overrated. Joao Pedro under Rosenior in a mid-block was well enough potency and threat in-behind. They’re only slightly useful for high-lines, as a dominant system can easily manufacture enough space in a mid-block. But not ABSOLUTELY necessary, as we see with Spain, you can afford to even play more defensively pragmatic without outlets by maintaining compactness.
Johyan@JohyanCruyff

Stretch & pull, stretch & pull, Palmer & Rogers will PULL the defensive line out to make space for our other attackers behind BUT we have to use attackers who STRECH the defensive line to either make space for Palmer & Rogers, or give them an outlet to find in behind

@SoumyodipDas10 What’s an “outlet” to you. For me it’s the common terminology of it in someone who you can ping a long ball to and stretch the defense in behind.

@lebronCFC He used to be able to dribble lmfao, and cover ground. Footballers are so stupid when they put on muscle through the bodybuilding training programs they go on. Look at Mudryk, surely in the end he was just a part-time footballer but full-time gymcell.

He’s way too fat. Never used to be until he pounded on a ton of muscle mass, watch clips of him when Chelsea signed him - he was actually mobile, nimble, dynamic, better receptions, better dribbler etc. Now he’s a sloth.

@ChemKean Massively exaggerated. This is like the washed RJ build what Santos is rocking here, Enzo is wayyyyy leaner.

@IsolatedPlay_ Yamal is the outlet. They are the most important player of a team- Vini, Salah, Kvara/Barcola. Wide outlet used properly beats any defensive structure.

@cookietalksalot Yeah and why he doesn’t do well in PL but well in Cups. Though, for outlets, he has a lot more to his game in his crossing and relationism.

@IsolatedPlay_ But, along with palmer, I think Xabis system helps limit those inconsistencies as they will both be less involved in the build up and more involved in the final third where they are both elite Arsenals just won a title as well and they have fuck all technicality in their team

The problem with Morgan Rogers and id be genuinely intrigued if Xabi sanctioned the deal because he thinks he can unlock this out of him, is as Graeme Souness says, he doesn’t see the picture well enough. His “high risk dribbles” aren’t a good thing, he just loses the ball a ton, it’s also why he doesn’t access great positions inside the box to score more goals, and why he isn’t a good creator. If Xabi unlocks him, fair enough, he has a very high physical and technical base but he needs to drastically improve his game IQ to warrant the fee.

To put into perspective: I would take both Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku over him. Both access way better scoring positions and retain possession a lot better, though primarily being shoot-first SS’s. That’s what we’re signing for £117m.

In Alonso we have a manager who will create space to attack through the actual build-up, not an individualist runner making an incisive perfectly-timed run, because we will be patient with progressing play until the right openings are made.

I think if Quenda is one of the wingbacks he’ll provide enough anyways, that’s more than what Spain have. He has very impressive in-behind numbers from the UCL last season.

@cfcshion Nah it matters. He has lots of technical inconsistencies but he just needs to work on being able to force the issue even more. He can do it with his physicality.

@IsolatedPlay_ He might not be good at passing and technically on the ball but tbh that doesnt Reslly matter in the prem, he has everything needed for the prem Obviously in Europe he’s gonna be mid but we aren’t in Europe snd can buy a proper LW next year for UCL

I admire his courage to get into those positions, taking the ball high up BTL’s or being a valve for the team to release pressure onto, but it doesn’t really mean much if you are the most dispossessed player in the PL who gives an inaccurate pass 1 out of every 4 passes you give.
