@kirbysfunpak__ Same, this place sucks to browse but there really is no better site to network with artists on. Bluesky is OK but it absolutely pales in comparison to the reach you can find here. The only other option is hope you get invited to a collab/discord with other cool artists.

this dopamine recepting brain melting website is truly awful and the way that things get put out on here really suck but I also have no fucking clue what to do because there's so many cool artists on here that JUST use this site

@ravncompensate I interpret the photo as just that we shouldn't ignore the root cause of an issue when we address a symptom/effect of it, like how the "heartwarming human interest stories" do. If you interpret differently, then I guess there's nothing else to discuss lol. Have a good one!

@ravncompensate I'm not saying that at all. As I said in a different reply, I'm happy Kyra and the team got this victory. It just sucks that this had to be a fight in the first place. I can be happy for them and disappointed in the circumstances at the same time, they're not mutually exclusive.

@IsometricPixel It is certainly more of an accomplishment than just saying to yourself "lol they tried to do something good as much as they can, instead of dismantling the system" and then just not dismantle the system either

@ravncompensate I'm just saying it sucks that overcoming circumstances that shouldn't exist in the first place is worthy of celebration. I'm disappointed that fighting to make sure things just don't get worse instead of better is considered an accomplishment. The bar feels very low recently.

I'm happy Kyra and the team won't have their hard work trained for AI (for now), but it sucks that this needed to be fought for AT ALL. It really shows how little companies like BuzzFeed care about their artists that it had to get to this point. What a world we live in today.

Funny thing, this video got restricted on TikTok because it "violated community guidelines on behavioral health." I'm not sure what's so heinous about spheres and cones making beep noises, but I guess Cy's crashouts aren't TikTok tolerable unless it's lesbian motivated.

Thank you for sharing your 3D and shading magic, Mathew! I've been messing around with the tips you showed all day and I absolutely love it. It's incredible how much you can accomplish with just Blender. Super excited to start incorporating these techniques into my workflow!

Posting every day, following trends, optimizing to the algorithm, etc. are all great ways to grow, but they're also a fast track to burning out, overly complicating and eventually hating what's supposed to be fun. Just enjoy yourself; the numbers aren't worth the headache.

I think something important that deserves repeating is that most of the artist advice you find here is geared towards people trying to turn art into a CAREER. If you are like me and just do this for fun, that advice should largely be ignored, lest you turn a hobby into a chore.

@06024R I'm also a dog person, but the issue is that dogs require a lot more training an attention than cats do. Additionally, a poorly trained cat won't kill/significantly injure you, but a poorly trained dog, especially a bigger breed like a pit bull or rottweiler? RIP.

Why do people overrate cats so much? I don't understand it. They're selfish, solitary, and aggressive... A dog, on the other hand, is a companion... A dog can save your life. A cat will step on your corpse to get it's food.

@KiwisBurntToast TikTok will forever remain an anomaly to me. I have the most followers there out of any other platform, but I have absolutely no desire to engage with them lol. The ones that decide to comment on my posts are a strange hive mind whose only goal is to weird me out.

TikTok users have linked me into a conspiracy theory that I'm actually another animator named 'Professor Lewis' so I just keep fucking with them. That app is an alien planet to me
