None of what is happening is new. The left has always had a disturbing lust for violence. Communism has killed more than 100 million people worldwide, and abortion millions more. Only a few decades ago leftist terror orgs such as the Weather Underground assassinated cops, robbed banks, and set off bombs in their quest for “revolution.” What we are witnessing is just the latest cycle, no doubt catalyzed by a combination of anti-Trump hysteria and the normalization of mental illness during the woke movement. Instead of seeking help these people pride themselves on their abnormal thoughts, as their little online bubbles are populated with similar weirdos to the point they believe they are normal. Both sides have their crazies, don’t get me wrong. But I firmly believe the right’s reliance on faith keeps a lot of our darkest impulses at bay. But when politics is your religion a lot of this homicidal shit probably seems justified. Righteous even. So while all of this is quite jarring, this is simply who they are, who they’ve always been, and who they will always be. Violence is embedded in their political DNA. We aren’t going to change it but we will, at some point, have to start dealing with it. Because if we don’t they will eventually succeed.
