@ZaidJilani These answers signal someone who doesn't want to do anything if elected to office. Matt Stoller keeps pointing to the cynical votes he does take to help corporate or monopoly donors.

Green New Deal was always fluff, Medicare for All bill as written can’t pass, and abolish ICE is just a slogan. Jon is an effective lawmaker he doesn’t tilt at windmills.
full slack@fullslack_

Do you support the Green New Deal? Ossoff [smugly]: no Do you support Medicare for All? Ossoff [smugly]: no Do you support abolishing ICE? Ossoff [smugly]: no Any poll that has Jon Ossoff or Gavin Newsom as more likely to win a general election over AOC is a junk poll.

@JoshEakle The earth is warming, we can't compete with China on manufacturing and our healthcare system is a disaster. Not supporting the GND and Medicare for All are basic at this point and deal breakers for normie Dems.

Leftists live in an alternate reality. Virtually everything he said here makes him more electable. You can disagree with some of his positions (I'd like to see him back abolishing ICE, for instance), but the idea that running to the far left is a winning strategy in this environment is wild. This election shouldn't be about passing massive social programs. Run on that platform and you will lose. It should be about systemic reforms that lower the cost of living, reduce the power of the executive, and make our system of governance functional again.

@donalobrien101 @JoshKraushaar @jewishinsider @marcrod97 I don't care if it's Jewish or not. Any country defining itself by race or religion is not democratic and not following American values. I don't want my tax money going to a state like that especially when it's entire existence is based on violence.

@JoshKraushaar @jewishinsider @marcrod97 By the way, this is a statement anyone should make. He's not saying he'd stand by Netanyahu or the West Bank settlers or the Gaza war. He's saying he would stand by the fact that Israel has a right to exist which it absolutely does. If you can't make that statement then fuck off

The idiot who runs our country says this but doesn’t have the courage or evidence to come after me. This should tell you how low IQ he is. Trump is who needs to get the hell out of our country because he is destroying it and making us the laughing stock of the world.

Phonebanking update after the Whitmer endorsement: 0 Haley supporters. 1 still undecided because she likes Whitmer but think Stevens is awful. 1 Abdul supporter said he liked Whitmer but after this he no longer does and didn’t like Clyburn blaming Black people for losing in 2024. Rest say Whitmer and Stevens are both corporate sellouts. Main issues are Whitmer’s support of data centers, Haley’s support of AIPAC, no M4A support and the $60 million in dark money
Haley Stevens@HaleyforMI

I am absolutely thrilled to have Gov @GretchenWhitmer’s endorsement for U.S. Senate. She is a champion for our state, she understands the stakes of this race and why it’s so important we elect the strongest Dem in this primary, and she gets stuff done for Michigan. Let’s go win!

For a decade, corporate Democrats & liberals have soothed themselves by insisting Trump won purely because of racism, not also because voters got sick of corporate Dems promising hope & change - and then selling them out. Racism obviously exists in American politics and elections, but by casting racism as the singular force in elections, this argument is designed to absolve Democrats’ neoliberalism from culpability for the political, electoral and economic conditions that fueled Trump’s ascent. In this important NYT clip, @sunraysunray destroys this argument.

I am a Big Tent Dem. I want (sane) Democratic Socialists in the party to run where they can win. I want (decent, not reactionary) moderates to run where they can win. But this idea that Democrats with solidly left-of-center views are “the enemy” if they don’t bend the knee to socialists is the kind of unnecessary provocation that will keep us fighting each other rather than fighting for the nation. (Also you can’t really be mad when you call a party the enemy and then the party rejects you).
Mike from PA@Mike_from_PA

Personally it’s time that we stop pretending that liberals like Jon Ossoff, Gretchen Whitmer, Mayor Pete, etc. are anything but enemies. She was literally recruited into politics by a Blue Cross/ Blue Shield health insurance executive. They are not progressive.

The US government pressuring the newly installed Venezuelan government to withdraw from the ICC is a harbinger of what's to come; many other ICC member states will face US threats and bullying to withdraw, all with a singular goal: protecting Israeli criminals from accountability: state.gov/releases/offic…
