My government paid $2 million! for a bathroom in a park. Yet it’s often empty, and it’s already missing a sink.
By contrast, this public but PRIVATELY RUN park spent much less, while renovating a public toilet so well that people line up to use it.

#historyof1s • Ex Jordan Brand designer Doctor Funk (doctorfunksgallery) once teased a Prototype AJ1 Decon concept blending the Air Jordan 1 with the Converse Chuck Taylor. Built alongside the Nike Innovation Kitchen, the pair honored Michael Jordan’s brother James Jordan and his 31 years with the 35th Signal Brigade through military canvas uppers, parachute cord laces, and antique copper hardware. • What stood out most was the intention behind every detail. Doctor Funk revealed the shoe had “no backers, no toe reinforcement, no heel counter, no foam, no nothing.” Just pure construction at its core. • Even crazier, the samples were reportedly worn for years during development. @IssaKhari The pandemic didn’t help but all of them including Lover’s Rock closing over the last 10 years, really 5-7 years has changed the landscape for our outings & gatherings in ways I don’t even think we’ve been able to comprehend. I can’t imagine how smaller spots were impacted too.

Once they lost Woodland on Flatbush to “noise complaints” aka gentrification, so went Sugarcane, Bleachers, Soco, Milkriver, Basquiat’s Bottle, Imani’s (reopened as Mango Bay), Negril Brooklyn, Ode to Babel, Bed-Vyne Brew, Tilly’s, Amarachi, Bunton’s World Famous, & so many more.

Got laid off a year ago and it hurt because investing years & dedication into a brand feels like a break up when you’re let go and the business continues to restructure. But today, I was gifted a plaque of the YouTube channel we started & I appreciate that so much.
Even if the business as a whole doesn’t recognize you, the people you’ve impacted will never forget. The channel is now at 200k & counting!
