@saamm_uuu @thedeola_ The problem with that is you are missing the word "nuances". The "pain on the face" being referred to is when you use the emotion in an explicit manner such as " She has an angry look on her face" but you can't say "pain on someone's face". That's grammatically inept.

@saamm_uuu @thedeola_ I'm disappointed that you think pain can be followed with the "on" preposition. On denotes superficiality. Pain itself without explicit expression cannot be visibly detectable. It's when it's accompanied by a descriptive emotion where the "on" preposition is suitably applicable.
