It's Scottish winter so it's indoor bowls I'm playing atm & not only do I prefer the outdoor but I'm also better at the outdoor & I take the outdoor more seriously too Indoor is basically just something to do through the winter to keep my arm in motion, ready for the outdoor

It scratches the Street Fighter itch but because it's a realistic boxing sim you don't need the reflexes of a teenager to play it. Like, legit, it's a proper "old man" fighting game where yes there are combos but they happen at a pace that makes them manageable

Last month I downloaded Undisputed on PSPlus thinking "I'll give it a go, but probably just a wee go" and now I'm on the verge of the Platinum trophy and I've been really enjoying playing online ranked fights etc

So I think that I might have to say on that basis alone, statistically, it might actually be my favourite single player story franchise of all time. Idk. Obv lots of amazing things exist, even just 1 game experiences & things like Football Manager don't count in that category imo

I'm playing the game as a middle aged man, but I liked them just as much as a teenager/early 20s I feel like other people played them as a teenager and just didn't get them but now that they're middle aged men they finally do get them I've always been ahead of the times, lol

I swear 20 years or so ago some of the same video game journos who said Yakuza was crap are now saying it's great It's interesting as hell, and also a bit like one of the Patriarchs planning something 20 years ahead of time knowing what would happen, ha

From videogame industry to social worker. An interesting journey But I care, I always have. It's good to be helping people. And it's a real roundabout way of getting there. I am basically a Yakuza character, just without the fighting 😅

Ps. I'm kind of a social worker nowadays in my actual day job. Not told you people here on "Twitter" that before. Never thought I'd actually end up with a job like that given my lack of professional experience but they could see something in me and I've not let them down yet

But really it's just fascinating watching how the times change, prison metaphor. Those who had certain priorities in their teens/early 20s now have different ones. The whole franchise of Yakuza isn't about the Yakuza, it's about social work really.
