LotM Obsessed FanFic Writer of dubious skill | Read 100% LotM & COI | she/they

on that take about skipping sex scenes: i’m of the belief that if a book has sex scenes that can be skipped without weakening your understanding of the characters and their relationship dynamic, that is a flaw within the writing itself

AO3 is not social media, it's a library. Fanfic is not content, it's a hobby. Fic writers are not published authors who should stay out of fan spaces. They ARE fans. Fic readers are not clients or customers, they're fellow fans. The sooner people realise all that, the better.

My GOAT Sherlock Moriarty is finally being recognized simply for being human, and I have The Fool to thank for that! Both Sherlock and Dwayne are among the most underrated identities of Klein. I’m not saying the fandom hates them or has completely forgotten them; on the contrary, they have their fans and aren’t unpopular; but they get far less spotlight than Gehrman Sparrow or Merlin Hermes (and even less than “Klein Moretti” himself). What I mean is that in discussions, they often get sidelined or ignored with arguments like “they don’t represent an important part of Klein.” From here on, I’ll focus only on Sherlock. I’ve always firmly believed that Sherlock Moriarty is the identity that comes closest to who Klein Moretti really was; or wanted to be: just someone living his own life without major complications, with a few close friends, and without aspiring to be some extraordinary figure. As Cuttlefish himself confirmed in a Q&A: when acting as Sherlock, “aside from establishing the basic identity of being a ‘detective,’ he didn’t create a detailed backstory or a strict personality framework for himself.” This allowed him to let loose more, show his true self, and express the restraint and resilience he carried inside at that moment. There were no rigid rules for his acting, and he was relatively free to behave as he wanted. Let’s remember that Zhou Mingrui, before transmigrating, had no grand ambitions and didn’t want to be anyone important. He led a relatively stable life and was content with it: go to work, visit his parents, chat with friends, and that’s it. An ordinary, everyday life. In Volume 2, Sherlock is the closest thing to that normalcy that Klein was able to recover. Despite the horrors he faced (assassination threats, losing companions, his own impending death)... That phase showed us who Klein truly is deep down: someone who loves cracking jokes with his friends even though he’s wary of strangers, and who, when the danger exceeds his abilities, is willing to step up even if it means his death. He’s vulnerable, relatable, and human. But let’s not forget that the current “Klein Moretti” is a new person: a fusion of his “Zhou Mingrui” self with the memories and emotions of the original Klein Moretti. Add to that the changes to his psyche brought by the Seer pathway potions (though these changes unfold throughout the entire novel). If Zhou Mingrui had arrived in the LOTM world without all that emotional baggage; without taking over someone else’s body, without playing the role of the lost brother, without the weight of guilt and responsibility; the story would probably have been very different. (No idea why I’m thinking of a typical isekai lol). And I’m going to be a bit annoying here, but I’m glad it was clarified that Sherlock was the closest to Klein’s true self instead of Merlin, as many in the fandom believed (no shade to you, Merlin, I love you ). It might seem like I have a favoritism toward Sherlock, but as I said earlier, I don’t have a favorite among Klein’s identities. They all contribute something to him as a person and to how he views life, since us humans tend to wear many “masks.” Thanks for reading!
