This used to be funny when I was a child. Now I’m well into middle age, and it’s still creaking on, with the same panellists: a British institution, in the way that all British institutions are long past their sell-by date

@FootballCliches Is it me, or are they subtly speeding up/ slowing down the MOTD theme tune depending on how many matches they have to refer to in the opening titles?

The commentator for the 2013 Watford vs. Leicester play-off semi-final was likely Clive, based on available commentary charts. The match, broadcast on Sky Sports, saw Watford's Troy Deeney score a dramatic 90+7-minute goal after Leicester's missed penalty. Official records from 2013 are limited, so the commentator's identity remains uncertain.

@FootballCliches @arnoldsavoir More to do with having a distinctive first name, for me - as happened with your Dele Allis and so on
English

@arnoldsavoir Purely down to having a six-syllable surname

I’m sure you’ll have addressed this before Adam @FootballCliches but why is Alexander-Arnold simply called “Trent” by the pundits? When did he become like a Kylie or a Britney? I can’t remember Le Tissier as simply “Matt” or Ward-Prowse as “James”.
