Cardinal Protodeacon Dominique Mamberti announces that the Cardinals have elected Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who took the name Pope Leo XIV.

#PopeFrancis died this morning at 7:35. The announcement was made by Cardinal Farrell, camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church.

Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta.
