A very professional and diplomatic statement by the Nigerian embassy in South Africa It's heartbreaking that African traditions have to be explained to Africans. However, this was just the latest excuse to attack immigrants in South Africa. I shudder to think what will happen if they lose a soccer game against Nigeria in Johannesburg

I am not naive, when economies are sluggish, it's always "good" politics to blame foreigners. The thing with South Africa is the organised nature of the harassment and killing of AFRICANS in Africa by Africans. This is how the brownshirts started. If any nation targeted a group of people based on a specific characteristic, and killed them, I think South Africa would run to the ICC, yet AFRICANS are being killed in Africa by an organised group of South Africans. There is the Dudula movement, launched in 2021 in Soweto. "Dudula" means “to push out,” denoting the expulsion of foreigners from the country and their return to their countries of origin. The movement is better known for calling for the mass deportation of undocumented migrants, blocking immigrants from accessing healthcare, raiding businesses belonging to foreign nationals, and forcing their shops to close South Africa, the land of the AFRICAN National Congress, is attacking Africans on the continent of Africa

Been to South Africa three times The first time I went, I met a lady who told me day one, “Don't tell anyone you are Nigerian” I waved it off. After three days, I understood what she was saying. South Africans don't like African migrants because they accuse them of taking their jobs and women. For Nigerians, however, the hate is visceral, special and forward Foreigners living there are picking pennies in front of a steamroller

The video that was misinterpreted by some South Africans only showed a cultural celebration All they did was mark their cultural day and appoint a community leader among themselves, not install a king There was nothing wrong with what they did South Africans need to do better.

@andrea_spook @Papi_911 The genesis of the safety problem we have is apartheid & you can't run away from that even if you were 1 year old in 94. If your ancestors didn't come up with that shit called apartheid you wouldn't suffer from anxiety in treelined streets suburbia.

I was one year old in 1994 🤣, but sure, let’s pretend I was out there drafting policy. This conversation is about not wanting to live in a crime-ridden country. That’s it. At some point, you’ve got to get a grip. Don’t let a 33-year-old who was literally in diapers at the time “oppress” you in your imagination. It’s getting a bit theatrical.

What unsettled me most about living in South Africa was that constant feeling of being on edge, you’re never fully at ease. Even in the safest areas, there’s always that instinct to look over your shoulder. Years later, living in the United States, I still catch myself scanning my surroundings when I go for a run. It’s no longer just situational awareness, it’s an ingrained anticipation of the worst. The hardest part is that, in South Africa, those fears aren’t irrational. Even in the safest neighborhoods, there’s an underlying reality of danger that’s difficult to ignore. I wish them eternal rest. I’m deeply sorry they had to endure such unimaginable violence.
k9_reaper | T.I.A@k9_reaper

From a News24 article on the latest farm attack in South Africa - article attached in the following post. SA is a zero trust society, where use of unimaginable violence is the rule of law. This is exactly why we have gates installed in the passages of our homes, why we lock ourselves up at every opportunity and why we turn our homes into what is essentially a fortified position.

To be truthful, South Africans don’t want other Africans in their country, and the truth is that they definitely need to adhere to them. Let’s see how the country’s economy works, because some even think Nigerians are there to take their jobs, which is insane, especially the fact that most White South Africans prefer working with other Black Africans outside South Africa 🇿🇦 than the indigenous people. Now down to the Igbo people. Everyone knows that Igbos are not there to take lands in South Africa 🇿🇦 or to rule anyone. What they are doing is unionism, which has always been practiced among them for centuries, where they form a group to contribute and protect their businesses while helping those who are struggling financially outside their homeland. So they install a leader known as Igwe, meaning King, over the Union to oversee it. Not a king to take South Africa’s lands but to protect and oversee their businesses and organization. Some South Africans misinterpret everything because of hatred and what some Nigerians have done to destroy their properties, and others think they are there to steal your jobs or lands.
Typical African@Joe__Bassey

South Africans are attacking every African, especially Nigerians, in East London, South Africa 🇿🇦 after an Igbo union declared an Igwe last week. Many cars and businesses have been destroyed already with gory videos being circulated. We know Igbo people love unionism. It’s high time they stop giving the title Igwe outside their ancestral land to avoid controversy between them and the people.
