I am honestly really surprised how capable of a fighter 11th Brother / The Crow turned out to be. He really held his own against anyone he fought this season. Makes it all the more frustrating and inconsistent how he was killed in three seconds by an unarmed Ahsoka Tano. I really do not like the way many of these projects, specifically Filoni's Ahsoka stories, have used the Inquisitors as canon fodder. Seeing them as very capable fighters on par with many of the Jedi makes them far more interesting. #MaulShadowLord really managed to turn them into frightening villains. Hope to see more of them in Season 2.

The Season finale of #MaulShadowLord has cemented the series as one of the best Star Wars projects period. Breathtaking action with lightsaber fights you could only dream of and a conclusion worthy of the many great characters the show has so carefully built up throughout this Season. People will obviously be talking about Vader's appearance and rightfully so, considering how beautifully he is framed and how breathtaking the desperate struggle against him feels, but there's more to this finale than just him. To me, these final two episodes are a perfect illustration of the incredible strengths of the series - action, visuals, Maul, Devon and Daki's relationship, the planet Janix, the deeper exploration of who Maul is - and its bigger weaknesses - i.e. everything involving Brander Lawson and some of the more clunky dialogues. Yet none of its flaws ever truly manage to detract from how great of a first season this was. The slow, well-plotted fall of Devon Izara at the core of the series is compelling to see. The Inquisitors are scary forces of nature that move through this story with competence and style. Even the speeder chases and shootouts - something that has gotten somewhat stale after 50 years of franchise history - are a joy to watch here. Over the years, I have changed as a Star Wars fan, with my priorities and preferences shifting into different directions. To me, hearing Vader and Maul talk would have been infinitely more compelling than their prolonged duel, but I understand why this was done the way it was. Vader works incredibly well as this horrifying, silent beast and Maul not even receiving the slightest acknowledgement to the questions who Vader is was a smart and poetic decision. As Tony Gilroy said during the Andor press tour: "Writing for Darth Vader is really limiting. I’ve done it. He doesn’t have a lot to say" and these episodes are probably much better off with him as a silent force of nature. Rook Kast's death made me gasp and Dryden Vos' inclusion in the final two episodes is a welcome addition, considering we still have seasons worth of storytelling to be filled with Maul's Crimson Dawn era and Qi'ra's fate post Solo. I hope the criminal underworld moves further into focus in Season 2, because aside from the Pyke subplot, we haven't seen all too much of it and I really want to see more of this section of the galaxy under Imperial rule. Eeko-Dio Daki is one of my favourite Jedi ever and while his death was inevitable, I still think it was so well done and works brilliantly as the final catalyst for Devon's fall. When this series was announced, my excitement was rather modest. I still think it's well about time for the animated shows to move past the current era and tell new stories that aren't Clone Wars Legacy content. But the team behind this series has truly surprised me and managed to create a compelling narrative with great characters, incredible action and jaw-dropping animation. I cannot wait to see the second Season! Really hope it won't take too long. 9.5/10 for this finale and 8.5/10 for the series as a whole.

This is a great first couple of pages. Loving the additional side notes and then that quick storyboard sketch. Would love to see the full thing some time after the full movie’s release!
