@IustusEt Fwiw a big influence on Dorothy Day and the Catholic Worker movement, both directly and via St. Therese. Meaning universal holiness, the call to lay people. Maybe it's obvious enough others would have made the same argument but it was influential in a good sense imho.

St. Francis de Sales the “lousy theologian” according to Redeemed Zoomer, converted 70,000 of his fellow Calvinists to Catholicism. He also humiliated Calvin’s successor Theodore de Beze in debate. To this day his book The Catholic Controversy converts countless Protestants.

Eastern Orthodox Author Fr Seraphim Rose was a gay man who started a monastery with a gay pedophile. The monastery he started fell into pedophilia and scandal shortly after his death.
