Hi @karolineleavitt Patrick here, from Quebec. 👋 1- It’s $254,000 (Canadian, but still) 2- 53% is the marginal tax rate. The actual rate is 39%. 3- We have subsidized health care, day care and tuition fees. 4- We live three years longer than Americans, on average. Cheers!

@thoriscoolth @lubeau05 @aapmHQ Last year we sent work to the annual meeting, and one of our posters got put into the online-only category. No time slot for discussion, no space at the meeting. If we wanted it included, we had to register and upload the file. We pulled that work.

So @aapmHQ to start charging 25$/abstract. Does this means that each reviewer will now get $ for reviewing abstracts? There is a limit to exploiting my time for free...I stop reviewing for ASTRO when they started to do that.

@thoriscoolth @lubeau05 @aapmHQ Well, financial times are tough at AAPM. The office let go a long-time senior management employee recently, and we’re headed towards dues increases.

NFRF Exploration proposal: Research proposal 4 pages. EDI section 3 pages. A pointless exercise, as long as barriers to higher education aren't removed. The people we are requested to apply our EDI to don't even exist in our environment.

@mallarchkrvrty1 Gantt’s chart system was revived by a rich 19th century banker from Luxemburg, who required all of his middle managers to produce “Ganttkarte” before he would approve their projects. The rest is, as they say, history.

@mallarchkrvrty1 Gantt was a 16th century Dutch monk, printer, and painter. He would plan his bible printing jobs using horizontal lines painted in oil on canvas. His exceptional timeliness appreciated by his customers, but despised by his peers. He died at their hands, crushed by his own press.

Who was Gantt and why must I fill in his chart? Wrong answers only.

@rauscherMRI Where I live the single speed has been replaced by the upgraded vintage 26-inch mountain bike.

I don't have single speed. Am I still allowed to pick up my growler by bike?

@medphysdave Oh no, it’s one dog eating ANOTHER dog’s poop. Much more sophisticated.

“Some companies believe they can scale the data wall by using synthetic data — that is, data that is itself generated by A.I. systems — to train their models.” So we get the generative AI equivalent of a dog eating its own poop? nytimes.com/2024/07/19/tec…
