The housing affordability bill became law nationwide late week. Its official name: “21st Century Road to Housing Act” What it does: - Stops corporate landlords who own 350 houses from buying more. - Allows developers to skip an environmental review if a house is going up between two houses that were already reviewed. - Creates a program that would create a collection of preapproved housing designs, which would lessen the need for approvals before construction. - Cuts regulations and costs for manufactured homes. - (The bill originally had a provision that forced build-to-rent developers to sell their properties after 7 years, but Republicans got that provision removed, so developers get to keep their rental homes, and renters won’t be forced to move.) Trump originally pushed for some of these changes but ultimately refused to sign off on the bill because he wanted the SAVE America Act passed first. The bill passed anyway due to bipartisan support.

The FCC chair has threatened to revoke the broadcast licenses of TV stations over news coverage deemed "fake news," particularly concerning the war in Iran. In my opinion we never should have given government the power to control speech like this. Why create a license system where you have to ask government’s permission to speak? The people have the freedoms to turn the TV on and off themselves. TV station licenses are contrary to the First Amendment, in my opinion.
